  1. I just checked out Joe's Granado build. Looks like a beautiful ship and he did a great job. Can't wait to see you work your magic with this one. I'll be following along. Good luck.... Steve
  2. Hi Augie I have been following your build - and just finished reading it again (for the second time). Your work is fabulous and the praises are well deserved. Chuck's plans are directions are well deserved of all the credit they get also. He has created a fantastic kit and made it relatively easy for all of us to successfully build this beautiful ship. (Thank you Chuck!!!!) That said, Chuck has created this awesome "paint by the numbers" kit - it is still you that are holding the brush. And you have created a masterpiece....... Steve
  3. Just found this build - another awesome job!! I wish the pictures were bigger so I could see more of the detail. Your workmanship is inspiring. I've been following all of your builds and learning a lot. Thank you..... Steve
  4. Looks like things are progressing along in excellent fashion. Mine is pretty much on hold during the summer months, too many other things going on. Keep up the great work
  5. Unbelievable !!! A simple "like" can never do that kind of workmanship justice. Amazing.
  6. Looking really good DrWatson. I really like the way the second layer transom turned out. Keep it up -- I'm still folowwing...... RR
  7. A really beautiful piece of work. It's starting to take on a life of its own now. Very cool !!!!
  8. The rigging -- as well as the photos -- look pretty fantastic to me. It is great pleasure learning from you and all the other talented modelers on this forum. Great work !!!!
  9. Hi Tom: You have made the first giant step in building a fantastic ship, and that is finding this forum. So many amazing and talented builders here and all more than willing to help. I wish I would have found it sooner. I'm just finishing up my Constellation (my first wood model also) and it was a fun ship to build. I learned a lot and it turned out pretty good - for me anyway. Just keep plugging away and have fun. That's what it's all about.... Your off to a fine start.... RR
  10. Hello Sal: Thanks for adding your build log. Like you I am just getting ready to start a Syren build. This will also be my second wood model, just finishing up an AL Constellation. Wish I would have found this forum during that build. It sure would have helped. A lot of very clean and inspiring Syren builds here. They should also provide a lot of help and inspiration. I still have a few things to get done before I get started but I won't be far behind. Take care. RR
  11. I just noticed that you are from GR. My son lives in Clarksville. I would upload a pic for you but I am currently in Canada working an IMSA race. I won't be home till about the 16th. I did find this one on my phone, maybe that will help a little. I did not put all of the lines that go under the bowsprit. Like you said - there a lot going on down there. Good luck....
  12. Hello Jason: I just found your build - it looks a lot like we are in the same boat - sort of speak.... I am finishing up a AL Constellation and have enjoyed the build quite a bit. Just a little more rigging to go. It was my first wood ship so I have learned a lot. I plan on putting some pics up in the Gallery when finished, I didn't find this forum in time to start a log. Anyway, I think your doing a great job with the ship. The directions left a little to the imagination a few times. Like you I didn't paint anything except the white stripe. Are you planning on putting the sail on?? The ship looks awesome -- keep up the good work... I'll continue to watch RR
  13. Very nice build. I am just finishing up my own AL Constellation that had been sitting in the basement for many years. Had the opportunity to visit the ship last summer while working the Baltimore Grand Prix. I dug her out and now she is looking pretty good - just a little more rigging to go. Like many others here i was not impressed by the kit, however I did learn a lot that will help with the next one. Again - very nice build - congrats... RR
  14. I could look at these photos for hours and still find sweet new details. Fantastic build and many thanks for the build log. I continue to learn a lot from you... Thank you..... RR
  15. Hi Tom: I'm just finishing up my AL Constellation - which also has an open gun deck. It adds a great deal of detail to the ship and very you will be happy with this addition. I also have this model next on my to do list. Currently have it and just waiting for the opportunity to get it started. You have been doing an excellant job and I will continue to follow it along very closely. I'm going to learn a lot following your build. Keep up the great work... Steve
  16. If it were me I would make the hole in the mounting board just big enough for the screw to pass through and then have it 'bite' into the ship, pulling the ship tight. That said - I am also new at ship modeling also so you might want to look for some other answers from more knowledgeable modelers here. As for building the Niagara I would highly recommend following the build log of 'greatgalleons' at this link. He is an excellent builder with many pictures to help us out. RR
  17. I have been thinking of this ship for my next project. It will be my second one. I have been following your build with a lot of interest and have learned a lot. . Thank you for posting this build an letting us learn from your experience. Your work is very impressive to say the least. There is no way I will be able to match - or even come close - to your workmanship but it will give me a target to shoot for. What you are getting done in a day will take me a week. Thanks again..... RR
  18. Just wanted to say thanks for the info. I was thinking about this for my second build but I think I will also check out some other options......
  19. I just recently found this forum (MSW) and will be following your build closely. I am currently debating on doing this ship as my next project. Currently building the AL Constellation. (Sorry - not real impressed with the kit but learning a lot). Your work is EXCELLENT and I can only hope to follow your lead. I have a long way to go.... Thanks for posting your build....
  20. That was an excellant video -- very well done also. Many thanks.
