Everyone thanks for the thumbs up and kind words. And we go a bit further I finished the screws, which still had casting edges, burrs and other imperfections. After some filing, sanding and polishing this is the result. I also made the propeller guards and the corresponding installation. The rudder blade was also made. This speaks for itself and needs no further explanation I think. and as always Below some pictures.

The hull was purchased some time ago (2014) from MZ modellbau, but as far I understood he closed his company (he retired) in January 2019. I figured out, that the hull and resin parts are produced in the Ukraine (ML-Modellships ) they offer a line of ships of the German imperial Navy 1/100 scale. but come mainly with resin parts, the rest of the parts you need to make by your self (depending upon the choice you make) I use the resin parts as a example or use it partly (base) to remake the part. Part of the brass I use where purchased extra with my Emden. And some I bought by A Lassek in Germany. But mainly I make by my self, (love working with brass) (The Emden was also purchased from MZ modellbau, I made here in the same way as I am building the Scharnhorst (used the resin parts mainly as a example or base to rebuild ) for me the most important part of the model are the drawings that came with it. And the pictures I collected over the years. Below a picture of all the parts I remade or simply did not use.

The small wheels I made from cutting very small slides from a brass tube, the bigger ones I used wheels that I still had laying around from my previous build Emden, used them for the 10,5 cm guns. Everyone thanks for the thumbs up and likes and we continue. did not make so much pictures during the process of construction and building so manly pictures of finished parts and constructions. made the railing in the back. Made a start with the rigging of the funnels, made the 3.7cm Maxim machine canons, that where placed in the fighting masts. and started with the construction of the searchlights (the searchlights I purchased some time ago (3D print ) these are so detailed, for me very difficult to make, with the tools I possess) Bellow some pictures

Everyone thanks for the thumbs up and we continue a bit further made the 4 8,8cm guns (combination of 3D and scratch, the 3D level of details is really amazing almost impossible to produce by hand, so I decided to make it a Combi of scratch and 3D) made the rest of the gun I’m placements made the last to sloops and made the davits plus the gearboxes for the davits installation. still need to make some more details to the davits but it gives all ready a impression.

I forgot in my enthusiasm to make some pictures, during the process, sorry ! below also a picture of the compass stand, standing on my cutting board.

Everyone thanks for the thumbs up. the chapter sloops. I finished the last one of this section and added some more details , still need to make 2 more, but I have to wait a little bit more on them, unfortunately they send me the wrong hulls, they where 13.5cm instead of the ordered 10 cm. so I will continue on the rest of the structure that still need to be constructed, like the compass platform and the fire control and mast. below some pictures of the sloops

First Thank you all for your kind words and thumbs up. And we will continue a bit further with the sloops, below some pictures that I think more or less clearly show my steps , Three more sloops I have to make. Out of a total of 11 Of which 2 I ordered extra in Germany because they were not included in the kit I bought at the time ,( by the way the sloops are made out of resin, it takes some time and patience to get them as I would like to) The 2 that I extra ordered are currently on their way. So as said a number of pictures below, that will explain my steps.

Everyone thanks for the thumbs up In the meantime I made the ammunition cranes and hatches for the 8.8 cm artillery. Since I don't really have clear pictures and information about the situation, I came to the following. I think this is pretty close to reality. Below some photos.

And we're gonna go a little further Thank you all for the thumbs up and fine words. The boat cranes are ready as far as I can see The rivets are a kind of decals I once bought for model trains HO scale 1/87. this came pretty close to the 1/100 scale I'm building in. Some pieces come out nicely but also many pieces is the rivet for rivet to place, I fix the rivets with a liquid (solvaset) this makes the decals slightly soft and therefore more beautiful to form. The "old" ones weren't nice in shape and were distorted, so I made new ones out of styrene (pvc card). The funnels the round one I rebuild from styrene card, the oval ones (3) I brought back to the basic shape, filled all smal holes (air bubbles) with a combination of superglue and backing soda, the rest of the deformations i filled out with car epoxy, and then reshaped them again, with a combination of styrene and epoxy. Did this for most of the (yellow) resin parts that came with the model so far, resulting in a box full of parts and components, just as an example. So under some pictures of the boat cranes. All the best , and stay safe !!

If you enjoy building ship models that are historically accurate as well as beautiful, then The Nautical Research Guild (NRG) is just right for you.
The Guild is a non-profit educational organization whose mission is to “Advance Ship Modeling Through Research”. We provide support to our members in their efforts to raise the quality of their model ships.
The Nautical Research Guild has published our world-renowned quarterly magazine, The Nautical Research Journal, since 1955. The pages of the Journal are full of articles by accomplished ship modelers who show you how they create those exquisite details on their models, and by maritime historians who show you the correct details to build. The Journal is available in both print and digital editions. Go to the NRG web site (www.thenrg.org) to download a complimentary digital copy of the Journal. The NRG also publishes plan sets, books and compilations of back issues of the Journal and the former Ships in Scale and Model Ship Builder magazines.
