Bugra got a reaction from mtaylor in Making Mini Milling Machine with Compound Table - Bugra
Hey Jud,
Up side will have some holes for air access. In to do list for tomorrow.
I've used that transformer before with same motor, did not noticed any heat problem. But we will see of course If I need a cooler, a PC fan will be fine I guess. And have enough space for this upgrade.
Thanks for looking in and your important advice.

Bugra got a reaction from mtaylor in Making Mini Milling Machine with Compound Table - Bugra
Hey there ;
Actually I don't like using any power tools while modelling. But I guess this is a must for future projects. Sometimes sanding is not enough
I was thinking this project for a long time. So, decided to get to work on this.
I didn't draw any plan or sth. Everything is in my mind. Sorry for this.
PART 1 - Power Source
First of all, I need a power source. After thinking, making it "universal" is the best. I mean, for all the future hand made power machines I will use this source.
I have very nice 18V Johnson Motor, this will be my babe... Motor, is quite powerful but no problem with a dimmer.
Started to making box. 10cm x 15 cm will be enough for all parts. I have 4mm plywood for this. Sides and top will 8mm, base will 12mm. Marked and cut.
All parts are in place. I need some practice on soldering, I'm not sure If it works
We're ready for first test. And, yes.. Dimmer worked, motor sounds nice :lol
And this. Socket for general adaptors. Guess, will work fine.
Now, some sanding (!), painting and drilling work to do..
Will continue,
Thanks for your time,
Bugra.

Bugra got a reaction from NenadM in Cutty Sark by NenadM
Hey Nenad ;
I can understand what you feeling about your loss. Few years ago, I've learned that I need to protect my tools. During those days, when I need something, always found it in elsewhere. They were broken, warped, used on heavy duty work. From now, I draw a line line hard him between my tools.
Kids ? Oh, no.. It's my DAD!
Cheers, Bugra.

Thanks Bugra for watching!
I think abaout TurboCAD but don't have any experience in CAD... but as far as I understud I can enlarge it and reduce it as I want...
That's abig sore temptation.
On the other hand I it will need time to do so - but it's much easier to undo problems as to try to redraw something running wong.
Yours,
Stan

Bugra reacted to popeye the sailor in Cutty Sark by NenadM
the older pictures show just how much of a change you have made.........you've made some great progress. the rivets are a nice touch and paint will bring them out nicely. looking down the length of the deck......I don't see too much warpage. before you go any further, get the deck as flat as you can.........the sanding may knock off some of the rivet work your doing. then finish the rivet work and paint the bulwarks. plank the deck......you'll be showing those pearly whites in the biggest smile you'll ever have!
you began this scratch build with a definite direction........as you saw the extra detail you could add in, you found that it altered the direction of the build.......and there was some consequences. but through it all, your build has evolved into a very interesting build, with detail that I have never seen in any Cutty build. you shouldn't change your log at all..........it is a testament of the process you took to get where you are now. scratch building comes with it's problems........it's all in how soon you see the problems......and solve them, that makes it an enjoyable medium. your doing a fantastic job!

Bugra reacted to NenadM in Cutty Sark by NenadM
@Marc, wish you luck finding job in this hard times
@Popeye, re-planking deck is one of my hopes, and it must be done
@Mark, I do not have your will, patience and ... to start again. You have seen in my log that I was persistent like a donkey, sanding and sanding and sanding, and remade aft and fore decks, and a "miracle" comes ... now I have got "proper" spaces on main deck under edges of aft and fore decks to put there some things that have to be there, and they both look to much better. Also sanded, sanded, sanded, and outside look of hull and bulwarks seems to be proper with almost regular hull and outside bulwark lines, so whole thing start a little to look like Cutty Sark. But, on some way I can not explain, main deck is little twisted.
Just to remember, here are some pictures of first versions of fore and aft decks from earlier stage of building with obviously mistakes
Where I was, I can not be un-satisfied now. Of course, learned a lot
This remind me to make some edit in one of first logs, to point on error in my decision how to work some steps
Of course, joy very much in every hour in workshop
Yesterday some little work on "rivets", preparing to paint it white, and reminding lazy Nenad to finally bye new thin paintbrush

Bugra got a reaction from cristikc in Manual Angle Sander ( Finished )
Sure, will post how it works soon Christian..
Actually orginal photos of the idea are these..
So, here are the progress. After this, all steps are for good looking and fantasy
I saw this technique in Remco's HMS Kingfisher's log. Just wanted to give it a try. And the result is awesome. Especially, on irregular surfaces. Will add some mahogany as a frame.. Scratched sides for frame. Last view.. And this was fun.. Added some brass to the pointer. Just fantasy
