Greetings all. Well it’s nearly a year since I last posted. I need to have another prostate operation as my flow has slowed down, but as we all know, there is a rather long waiting list for operations and will be for a long time. Anyway let’s get on with the ship. I decided to restart the build after I spotted the David Lesters build Log of the Mayflower. I will finish the starboard side by cutting out the gun ports, and redoing the garbage forecastle and who knows ?? I may return with this side finished in a fashion. Here are a few photos, ignore the faults they do not matter !! Best wishes DAVID

Greetings David !!
Excellent work. Only just restarted mine yesterday after seeing your finished model. I will finish a few rails on the deck and then return to the hull which should give me more incentive and reference from your build ..Yes, very impressive build, well done .Regards DAVID

Greetings all
Well quite a bit of progress after a while. I have planked the decks, and tree nailed them. I did not trust myself using stain and after a few attempts I gave up. I was just making a mess and so I just reverted to coloured varnish and settled for beech. Well it’s good enough for me. The starboard side of the hull is fitted, and the port side is in place ready to be glued. Well now onto the next step, finish the stern and beak head. So that’s it for now. Thanks for visiting....here are a few photos.
Lets hope they are better than the rubbish I posted earlier.
best regards DAVID

Well here I am back at last. The planking is at last completed and there will be no second planking. I myself am happy with it and surprised how little filler I am going to need, as it is better than I was expecting it to be, but then again that’s me, and it keeps me happy . OK the gun ports on the starboard side are a mess but that’s no problem, and I cut them a plank too low. The planking at the stern is a simple tidy up job, so we will come back to all that later. So off we go to the decks, which I shall now start planking. I shall start with the forecastle deck and try to emulate the tree nailing pattern as shown on page ten, which you may understand from the photos. Some of you may have seen the tool I used earlier which I had been given, and I did not know what it was !! until Mark explained it to me. So here we go with ship decks and the planking idea. Best regards DAVID

Well I am off and running and enjoying this build. There are very few build logs, and I cannot find any that are completed. Anyway I am at the stage of fairing the bulk heads but thought I was rushing things, so thought I would do a little work on the deck for a few days. Anyway as I said I am happy with this little project. There is however one thing which bugs me, what is that rabbet strip for ? Were does the planking meet up with the rabbet strip or doesn’t it. Can someone show me a photo of the underside of the ship when it is finished. I cannot find one anywhere, so may have to improvise, but there’s quite a lot of time before I reach that stage . Anyway thanks for looking in and for your likes. Here’s a few photos. Catch you all later. Regards DAVID

Greetings all. Well here I am with a new build after abandoning my build of the Diana which I started about five years ago, but only built it on and off and obviously realized
it would never be finished. Anyway I was advised by a good friend why not build a small ship “something to potter about with” he said. So here we have the model shipways Mayflower to in my friends words “ something to potter about with” and which my son bought me a few weeks ago. I have just two weeks ago had a prostate cancer op called a TURP which went really well, so let’s hope the build of the Mayflower goes as well.
Well here we go, a few photos to start us off. Upside down ?? May have to start again
regards. DAVID

Greetings all
And thanks for all your reply’s and likes, alas only a little interest. I have just tonight arrived home from a prostate cancer operation, which I think has gone pretty well. I said to my son I will never finish the Diana., So he bought me Chucks Mayflower which he said should keep me happy for a while. I assembled all the bulkheads last week and will maybe start a log next week, let’s see how it goes. The Diana goes into the loft, and remains there for anyone who is ever interested. or maybe give it free in time to some one on the site who I believe in my opinion deserves it not for build logs, but for their input over a lot of years on the site, and l have noted pretty often , but not someone who makes offers. It’s silly for it to go to waste, but if it does sell for £150 the money would be donated to MSW ......regards DAVID

I have the Hms Diana partially build, which I am unable to continue with. I have added photos of how far I have reached on the build. I stopped my build at the near end of coppering the Hull which I was unhappy with. Anyway I have added some photos which will show how things stand at the moment. Please message me if you are interested. I have it for sale for £250 and the buyer needs to collect uk only. Thank you DAVID

Hope you are well. Yes mine is also sitting in dry dock, as it has been for the last few months needing those few tiles added. And Kevin is totally correct in what he says. I shall now start adding those tiles tomorrow, and look forward to seeing your deck. Best wishes DAVID

Happy new year !!!!! Well there is nothing wrong with that rigging, it looks really smart. Well done.. I have came to a standstill which is a regular occurrence with me, and with only about 40 or so plates to fit. Keep up the good work, and by the way that deck still appears to have a few things missing, if you know what I mean 😆 DAVID

Excellent work on the little boats, seems you have enjoyed it. Don’t know about small boats midships as they hide the waist. Seems you have a lot of patience, so do you fancy sticking some copper tiles on the hull of my Diana ?? Keep enjoying it. Regards DAVID
