Nicely done. The joinery on the comings is impressive.

Good work G.L.

Oak is not the most forgiving lumber to use at small scale. I also like the visible grain of the deck planks.

Happy modelling!

I saw the winch stringers to the correct length. They go down below through the deck till they end between the ship frames under the below deck. I make also four bearers in which the capstan roll ant the axis will rest in wood. Later they will be painted in black.

I just came across your log G.L, very very nice. I think that your deck looks fantastic.

But just for your lofting using pencils and rulers without the help of computers, you have my respect!

What do you use for brass blackening?

I like your companionway with doors and slide cover G.L.

What have you been using for the resembled dark caulking lines on deck, are those black card stipes ?

I use an oxidant which is called 'oxidant 1130', it is mainly used for brass but it works also with copper. I don't know the exact name or the composition of the product. I buy it in a shop for artist products in Ghent (Belgium): 'De gouden pluim' ( http://www.degoudenpluim.be/ ). They fill it in the wanted amount in plastic bottles.

Yes Nils, I use strips of 220 grams black paper which I glue at the side of the planks with ordinary white wood glue before fixing them on the deck beams.
