i was struggling with it as teh steps kep showing through the gaps in the sides but with your pics as reference i ll give it a go this weekend

Hi Adrieke,

 

Only the pictures of the last (succesfull) operation are shown , not the ones of the earlier attempts with no good result. As said, three times I had to demolish the end result, so no easy peasy job. By the way, I cut off the last bar of the long railing in order to match with the first deck.

Finished the handrails without problems and placed them together with the stairs on deck. The whole begins to take shape.

At last I succeeded to create the socalled wave catcher. The kit supplied mahogany (sapeli) with a thicknes of 2 mm which snapped by trying to bend it. Have bought mahogany with a thickness of 1.5 mm in accordance with the parts list. After wasted 1 meter I now begin to understand how to bend extreme curves.

I shall try to explain it,

In your previous picture that you post, when you look to the stairs, there is a strange angel,

It just like if it is twisted.

When you look at the last picture, everything is just right 

I hope that you now understand what i mean.

Now I fully understand (no you are not speaking double dutch). This phenomenon has to do with the angle of the camera with such close shots. Just was afraid that you were seeing my ugly face in the reflection of the wave catcher.

I was mistaken in that part, first placed the upperdeck and had to do the railing with tweezers.....

i have noticed that before that those stairs can look all twisted in pictures. probably because a picture is not 3D

As already noted by Adrieke and Wim, the slots in the third deck are misplaced, causing the stacks to be listed. Have corrected this by amending the slots by 3 mm (again the thickness of the wood, someone was sleeping at Artesania's). The 3rd deck will be planked in a herringbone pattern like the second deck. In the instructions of AL this pattern is disrupted at the small sides. Since I donot like this disruption I will proceed this pattern over the whole deck. (Yep the first photo was already taken before the stairs were placed).

you make me rethink what i did to line up the stakcs which was move the holes on the 2 nd deck

 

maybe i better check so i can redo the changes before it gets too much work

 

also John make sure to draw the lines on the part that is seperated by the hole otherwise you could end up like me with the pattern not lining up at the other end

Thank you  very much for your warning. By planking the 2nd deck I noticed that the veneers are not exactly equal in width. So I constantly check whether the two sides are still in line and correct them with smaller or broader veneers. Much appreciate your concern.
