John, I just noticed "C.W. Morgan" and popped in. I love it.  Like you, I visited Mystic and of course spent the entire day crawling around the ship.  You've done a grand job on the Morgan.  While I was there, they were making chain plates.  Sorry I didn't get this photo to you a little sooner, but it's probably a bit too big for the model.  Cheers, Gil

Hi Wayne and Gil, and everyone else. I haven't dropped off the face of the earth yet. I've had a real life project that needed a lot of attention the last 3 weeks or so. I still have some left to do so it might be a bit before the shipyard reopens. I try to keep up with most of you and see your progress. Weather is breaking here it's up to 80 today and tomorrow, don't miss the snow all of you are fighting. Thanks for the picture Gil I'm familiar with their proceedure. That is the stage I'm at right now and will be making chainplates and deadeyes next. I got the blackening process figured out, and that was holding me up from proceeding. I'll be posting things soon. Yes, Piet, the Leffe was on hand to welcome the warm weather.

Hey John, I figured I'd pop in on your blog as well. It looks as though you've been away for a bit as well. We're anxious to see some progress.

Hi Pat welcome back also. I hope to get a few things done soon. I'll be starting to make chainplates and deadeyes, now that I've figured out how to blacken brass. It was quite a delimma for a while and I had to wait for "chemicals" for the voodoo mix, but I think I'm ready to be a blackening fool now. I'm almost out of solder for my resistance solder iron. I'm not sure if I have to use a special type or if regular non-flux solder will work. I'm going to try it first so here's hoping. I had some problem with Model Shipways as far as a couple of parts go, but since the owner took over again maybe he can help me on that issue. I'll be trying to figure that out in a few days. Almost ready to start rigging. I have parts of all 3 masts almost finished and ready to start stepping. Maybe I can do some work over the weekend, sure hope so.

Hi guys, back in December and January, I had a lot of difficulty dealing with Model Shipways in an attempt to get a few replacement items for the Morgan. Needless to say it still is not resolved. I read somewhere in one of the Forums a ple from the owner of MS tht he was assuning the role of taking the company back from previous management and he was welcoming any input or comments - critisizms etc and gave his company email address for comments. I cannot seem to locate that Forum or remember his name. I would like to contact him and forward the many emails I sent to MS during this time to see if he can help me. So, if anyone can please remember his name or how to contact him I would appreciate it. Most of my emails were either ignored or improperly answered which is not what this company is all about and I feel he should know about it. Thanks for the help for myself and anyone else that had similar experiences.

Thanks Mobbsie, with Augie's help I have now been in touch with Marc Mosko owner of Model Expo who has assured me that this will be resolved. The guy I was dealing with Tom Snow is no longer with the company. Looks like ME is getting back on track to where they used to be. Good for them. I'll keep everyone posted as to the results.

Hey Dennis, good to hear from you. It's not resolved yet, but seems to be on the right track. Good to hear from you. Don't freeze it off....got out the shorts and T shirt yesterday, nice to sit on the veranda and watch the sunset yesterday....sorry to rub it in, but the south is hard to beat.....

we just got through a warm spell.......lost quite a bit of snow    now it getting cold again,  and I hear she'll be rearing her ugly head again!  I'll be glad when it's over.    you've had your share of weird weather     it will be good to see some progress........since you runn'in 'round in yer skivvies :D

Well. I've heard of 'snow birds' for the northern winter folk in the south but I don't know what you call a southerner flying up north in the dog days of summer - I guess 'smart'.

How'd you know...that's why we live on a lake....it has been wierd for weather, tomorrow I have to repair the sprinkler system...broken pipes....hardly ever happens. More freezes than the last 30 years or so....sorry for you guys up north...hope you get a break soon....

Well, it's a little cool here today, so working in the garage is out. However it should be back in the 70's tomorrow and Friday. The trees have all budded out....spring is almost here. I plan to build a wood sled for my Dremel table saw next, then might get some shipyard time. Many of you have been making nice progress on your builds. My next goal is making the chainplates and deadeyes.
