That was very observant of you Derek and yes, l do enjoy Stargazing. Although not an expert by any stretch of the imagination, I particularly like searching for the Messier objects.

Hi all,

Wow, l shall think of you all snug in your observatory Derek when l am next out in my hat, gloves and scarf. 🤣

A good session today, although very slow and fiddly. Once again l find l am getting quicker as l progress, l hope so as l have a lot of these Deadeyes and Blocks to do.

First shot is of the Double blocks attached to the Spars. They have also been fitted to the Masts.

Fore Mast Spars.

The next picture shows the first set of Deadeyes fitted, this is what took the lion's share of the time today.

Great set of photos LS. Have you had any thoughts about how you’re going to display her long-term? She’d look magnificent in a lit display case.

Thanks Derek, to be honest, l haven't thought that far ahead. I expect it will live on a shelf in the Grand children's room.

Some models on this site are fantastic and fully deserve to be housed in a dedicated display case, l do not consider my Victory to be one of them.

Today's session went well l am pleased to say and l am happy to announce the appearance of the first of the Standing Rigging.

But first, another seven Blocks.

The next shot shows the (temporary) fitting of the Royal Backstays. I have done this to try and achieve the correct lay of the Chainplates.

l then marked the position of the Chainplate bolts.

l duplicated this task with each pair of Shrouds.

The next picture shows the fitting of the Deadeyes and Chainplates to the bolts fitted to the Hull. These will be painted black in due course.

Hi all,

I was fully intending to call it a day at lunchtime, however, after a quick snack l was unable to resist another session.

I concentrated on the Fore Mast and Standing Rigging.

First image is of the Fore Topgallant Yard fitted with lifting tackle.

Hi Sgt_Hoser, l haven't completed all the Standing rigging for the Bowsprit yet but l will try and fit in a couple of extra pictures of today's session for you, l hope they help.

I had said l was taking a rest day today, l was planning a fishing or birding trip but it was so rainy first thing l decided to crack on with the build.

I concentrated on the Bowsprit, mostly the Standing rigging but also a section of Running rigging, for variety. 🤣

First up are several shots of the Bowsprit Standing rigging for Sgt_Hoser, l hope they help. By the way Sgt_Hoser, how about setting up a build log of your Victory, l would love to see it. I am sure it would help.

CSC_0401.thumb.JPG.2758d05675edfda3e95f71623425f85b.JPGCSC_0399.thumb.JPG.224c123f4e8d7dae779831dbe2136ddb.JPGCSC_0414.thumb.JPG.cfaf7b4ee743e89bc40322b4818efa0d.JPGCSC_0413.thumb.JPG.dcf77cc3f17193052bb26d7d18130aa0.JPGCSC_0412.thumb.JPG.9ecb9146d54c99913b16e9d219017678.JPG

Here are two shots of the Running rigging for two of the Forward Stays.

CSC_0403.thumb.JPG.7cd1f760a3f29ab69c03b1efcb7b6865.JPGCSC_0405.thumb.JPG.2db8f1a6f5dc73d703195534cc03bd27.JPG

l haven't tied off any of my running rigging yet, l like to make sure it is all nicely tightened first. Also, l am very nervous of that task as, once it is done, it's done. Any errors would mean starting again.

Having said that, l am running out of my mini pegs. DSC_0406.thumb.JPG.60b8cfe6575c20baa8e25d00a20fdb4b.JPG

And finally, this is where I am now.

During my next session l should be able to complete the Bowsprit rigging, with any luck

Hi all,

You are welcome Emmet, l am glad they helped.

A little more done today, l don't seem to have advanced so much today but that is because l plucked up the courage to tie up and cut off the loose ends.

Here are a few shots to show my advance today.

l hope to finish the Bowsprit on my next session (haven't l already said that once before) l also need to start preparing some rope coils asp, certainly before l advance much further.

Hi Lazy Saint,

Your build is fantastic, thanks for your kind words on my build log.  I am amazed at how neat your work is and how you make the deadeyes all even.  Still following with great interest as I'm sure many people are.  Keep up the good work, looking forward to your next post.

Thanks,

Wow! Thank you so much for this blog!

I just got this kit for Christmas and as I am a novice the instructions were fairly daunting.

I am very much looking forward to working through your blog as I build the kit.

Cheers.

Chris.
