Hi everyone -

My name is Brian Hogg and I'm 57 years old.  My latest quarantine project is the Smuggler by BlueJacket Ship Crafters.  I obtained the kit from my wife's late uncle about 20 years ago.  It's been sitting in storage for all of these years.  The hull was for the most part already shaped.   I had to do a little more shaping and sanding and now I'm starting on the bullworks.  This is my first model ship and I'm blown away with the details of the drawings and the quality of the kit.  I'm really excited to get into the project.  I've been an RC modeler for years, a wood worker and I've always wondered what it would be like to build one of these ships.  Now I'll know.  Looking forward to sharing my progress and of course soliciting help from the community.

Welcome! Looking forward to seeing your build log on the forum.

We are what we repeatedly do. Excellence, therefore is a habit, not an act.

I could carry, paddle, walk and sing with any man I ever saw. I have been twenty-four years a canoe man, and forty-one years in service; no portage was ever too long for me, fifty songs could I sing. I have saved the lives of ten voyageurs, have had twelve wives and six running dogs. I spent all of my money in pleasure. Were I young again, I would spend my life the same way over. There is no life so happy as a voyageur's life!

Hi Brian,

Welcome to MSW.  I spent 20 years in the St. Louis area.  Enjoyed it.  I hope you'll start a build log.
