Sanding the wood strips before attaching is a good idea. I usually get carried away by my enthusiasm and forget. I think your planking turned out well albeit, apparently, not to spec. At the end of the day, you will have a lovely ship and whether the planking is historically accurate or not will matter only to the rivet-counters. I used a Vallejo matt varnish on mine which didn't change the appearance. So much so that I did one side and let it dry. By the time I came back to do the other side I had forgotten which side I had already done. I now have to do both sides again to make sure I do it all. I would think there would be a minimum of three on each of the pintles but could very well be wrong. Allan Hi Allan, you would be correct in saying it is a kit instruction. not really sure of why its built the way it is but i assume with it being a "beginner" kit its just designed to be as easy as possible while keeping up the looks. after this model i plan to work on my corel or sergal models i recently bought so hopefully the quality will improve. Allan Looking at the AotS for the Beagle, it shows three bolts for each pintle on the rudder, spot on Allan During my build of this kit I've found so many areas where there has been a deviation from 'reality'. For your next projects, offerings from Syren and Vanguard seem to be the best way to go based on reviews and build logs here at MSW. There are surely others that are OK.
