It is is the same procedure as setting up planking on the ship itself (NOT the kit method😀) If not too much trouble, can you say what boats and their sizes are in the kit, be it launch, cutter, pinnace or what have you? Allan Hello Allan, sorry for taking so long to get back to you i have been pretty busy. i believe the kit comes with 2 launch boats, and a pinnace not sure about the other one. the measurements are a little over 12mm for the two on the left, 12mm for the middle one on the right and a little under 8mm for the one on the very right. i dont really know if these are accurate to the real ship or if im right in the boat types so i hope i could of helped Dave_E, Michiel and Mr Whippy 3 Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Allan As far as i know, no. you could probably find some plans online and scratch built them but nothing official. Honestly what occre provides isnt too bad its quality, just hard to build especially at such a small scale. I do hope the hobby reaches more people and inspires them to make their own improvement kits for stuff like this but I guess I got to use the hand I have been given for now. I respectfully disagree though with your statement. The boats in question and in most kits are totally out of scale from the frames to the width of the planks. There are very detailed contemporary plans in high resolution of several dozen boats on the Wiki Commons site and hundreds more in low res on the RMG site. There are detailed scantlings for early 18th century boats and early 19th century boats in W.E. Mays book on boats. With all this detailed information it is not difficult to build an accurate rendition of most any type of ship's boat, even with hand tools. Couple photos of a long boat at 1:64 circa 1700 that was made with materials mostly from my scrap bin. I know it is hard to see, but the coin is a US penny. It's a very nice kit - each plank is pre-shaped laser cut from very thin ply so they fit together nicely.
