so a mate gave me the kit, and it has to be built by November with OOB rules (you may use different decals).

so 2 days later, kit done. Masking and painting next.

My plan is not to win, just to contribute to the group build and do it as a clean build in chrome. Damn, Eduard kits are nice after some of the dogs I’ve done over the last few years. The details are just amazing. Very little putty so far and that is more my fault than the manufacturer

Looking good RGL, but I'm not sure if polishing works. Depending on the silver color used, there will be visible grain, disrupting the chrome appearance.
I experimented a bit with chrome and polished aluminum lately and found the best chrome you can spray is Alclad onto Tamiya LP1 lacquer gloss black.
The LP 1 need to be thinned with at least two thirds of leveling thinner and the Alclad chrome should be applied in very thin layers, slowly building up the chrome.
The finish is very fragile and you have to be careful not to leave fingerprints or scratches. I wouldn't recommend strong decal solvents, I used lukewarm water with a drop of detergent.

Hey brother, shiny aluminum needs to go down over a super smooth hard gloss black surface... The black is what gives it's it's depth of color, the smooth shiny surfaces give it it's reflectance...

And they are very fragile, they won't take a whole lot of handling until they are sealed....

If you were doing a dull aluminum finish that's perfect... The depth of color is there but very muted and the reflection is very subdued due to the rough surface... (but it is there)
