This one being the second one I’ve built this week, I had good expectations that it’s going to be an easy build:-) The metal seems to be a bit thicker, and I do see lots of super tiny parts. IMG_1876.thumb.jpeg.8adfb5812533aa4f14e949cd40451bf8.jpeg

It starts with the landing gear.

The assembling the wings feels accomplishing. Multiple parts assembled look like a wad of aluminum foil, but some how I get the tabs in their slots and twisted:-)

The nose cone with the gunner was next but while I was assembling it I didn’t know what it was.

The cockpit came next with its tiny assembly parts. The stick was the biggest challenge.

Several components made up the fuselage

And here is where I left off. Mainly and ton of little tabs that fit in slots all over the plane that need to be slipped in at the same time:-)

Interesting build. Appears to be "Memphis Belle", first US bomber crew to complete 25 combat missions. My hat's off to the bomber crews of both the RAF and USAAF for flying those missions in pretty tough conditions. Oh, and the "gunner" in the nose is actually the bombardier for these missions. 😉😄

Thank you Ken, that’s great information that I haven’t even thought about. Even though I was born and grew up in Memphis:-)

Bryan, I'm too young (Baby Boomer), but I had family involved. Pretty hard to capture the emotional stories of air combat on film. A few good ones like Battle of Britain, Dunkirk, 12 o'clock High, Tora Tora Tora.  I hope this new streaming video on USAAF daylight bombing gets done right. I did similar stuff, at night, in North Viet Nam, supporting the B-52s over Hanoi.

Great detail for the scales they use. This one is 1:130 scale. Looking forward to watch the rest of this build. Looking great.

I find the Metal Earth models to be a great change of pace. They usually take only a few hours (over several days) to complete them. I have 4 or 5 in my stash (including the USS Constitution.)

Thanks for posting! I have a collection of 5 Metal Earth kits and have been hesitant to try one. 🫤

I’ve done about a half a dozen. Here are a few tools that are very useful.IMG_2032.thumb.jpeg.46915272e0624293bc288b98e20c3273.jpeg

Just as I thought, only 2 tabs out of the last 8 were successful. The others were held as tight as possible and touched with a dot of CA. If one could remove most of the body parts and shape them close, before the tiny details are installed, it may not look like it’s really been in war:-)

Here’s the final closure on the underneath side.

Where can I get a set of those tools?  A couple I think I know how they would work.

Congrats on finishing the model.

@Dave_E  Like just about any endeavor, there's an learning curve.  Start with a simpler project and move on to more advanced.

Look at my Monitor and Merrimac build for another project.  (Link in signature.)

My Metal Earth track record:  I've done 3 successfully, ruined 1 because I didn't pay attention to the instructions and couldn't back up to fix the problem.
