The San Diego Ship Modelers Guild and Beer Drinking Team will be taking this on as a community build.  I think we have 12 folks diving in.

It funny you say that, Chuck. It just so happens that the 'Beer Drinking Guild' that I belong to recently took up model ship building!

"The journey of a thousand miles is only the beginning of a thousand journeys!"

Great project. I am a newbi (did 3 models ) I purchased the rigging project and started to make the hull. I could not get evenly sized planks for deck and exterior. For the exterior I used 1/16 by 1/4 planks  had and for the deck, I made a jig with bras(1/4 inch sq tubing and 1/4 flat) to hold and cult the 1/16 sheet stock. The I cound not makr the channels by gluing (3) 1/6 sheets together ( they would not stay together so I used a painters stirr stck and a 1/16 flst stock to make the channel. The pins were a good idea.

I was looking to see if someone could suggest a better way to cut planks evenly. The hull is being taped and  stained (see pic) and also a pic of the jig i made.

Toni is at the IPMS conference in Wisconsin this weekend.  I'll make sure she sees your question when she gets back.

We have a saw jig that is available, but if you are cutting the wood manually, toni would probably have some better suggestions than I can offer.

Although I cut my planks on a table saw, these planks can easily be cut by using a straight edge (aka steel ruler) and an Exacto knife.  It isn't critical to have these planks exactly the same width.

Are there videos or step by step instructions on the cross sizing and round sizing. Are there any tools to do these.

?

You can try also making a stub mast on a spare flat piece of wood and practice the sizing that way. Archjofo has very good pictures how he does sizing with descriptive articles as well.
