Because I want it to look dynamic I wanted to make a splashing bow wave on the port side as the ship rolls in, so using a UV torch and resin moulded over a silicone rolled up mat, it appears to come up ok. Now it’s not stuck in yet and it’s a proof of concept, I think it may work

I think, it´s too much splash for being so close to the harbor wall and seemingly no waves on the water. The figures are way too relaxed in their poses, not expecting a harsh maneuver so close to the wall. A boat this size should only glide with low speed in shallow water close to the bank.

Cheers Rob

Agree, so close to a pier (solid - not open with piles) that any speed on the vessel will create a pressure wave which in effect will serve to push the vessel back off the pier.  Slow speeds in shallow water are also a necessity other wise the stern will sit (be sucked) down.  Also agree that the postures of the crew (and the seagulls) do not support a vessel at speed (sufficient to create such a splash).  If anything ripples rather than splash?  Would you (the crew) also be wanting to disturb such contaminated water with such a splash?

Sorry if this all sounds 'negative' but it is such a wonderful diorama, that I believe that it should not be open to later criticism if entered for judging, if the story does not reflect the scene?

cheers

Not at all gents, it makes perfect sense and that’s why I asked! I’ve decided to go with such sage advice and add some more thick get to ‘pads out’ the bow wave . Thanks boys. The white stuff you see in the foreground will dry clear and I’ve thrown some leave in it for effect.
