Hello and Happy Thanksgiving!  As with just about any hobby, there tend to be a few stand-out sources for where the enthusiasts go on line to buy parts, tools, kits, etc.  I am wondering who tends to have the best overall pricing and selection.   In this case, for wooden ship models ("Really?"), specifically, sailing galleons, and other 1600-1800 era sailboats.

I have found so many  (Modeler's Central, Wooden Model, Nature coast, Blue Jacket Ship Crafters, to name a few).  Any suggestions are much appreciated!

Welcome and Happy Thanksgiving!

I’m a few states away from you and I get most of my stuff from Ages of Sails and Cornwall Model Boats.

They both have excellent selections and pricing.

Ages of Sails ships domestically for free on orders over $150.

Sometimes, Cornwall is slightly cheaper even with added shipping costs.

Also, Cornwall carries a lot more in the way of plans if you’re into scratch building.

Seawatch books is really neat if you’re into scratch building.

If you like card models, I strongly recommend Seahorse Models out of Poland.

All of them are awesome to work with!

Some places I've ordered from (in addition to amazon.comageofsail.com, and vanguardmodels.co.uk)

https://modelexpo-online.com for Model Shipways kits.

https://www.ottofrei.com has some tools like nice files and optivisor.

https://www.leevalley.com has some tools like nice chisels and planes for modeling.

https://ultimation.ca for desktop sander and cutter.

https://occre.com to order their models directly.

Welcome to MSW.   I'd suggest having a look at our sponsors on the main page.   One question... are you looking for kits or parts like cannons, blocks, etc.?   That might help narrow things down a bit.

Are you looking for price or quality?  As with anything, most of the time, you get what you pay for and will likely not get high quality and a low price.

Just an opinion based on looking at a lot of build logs of models from a lot of manufacturers.

There are Black Friday sales going on now at Model Expo, Occre, and Age of Sail. Best prices I've seen since summer. Probably will end on Monday. You need to shop around. I saw Vanguard Models on some of the sites you listed a good bit more $ than what was on Age of Sail. And while Model Expo sells on Amazon, the prices on Amazon are not the sale price you get on their Model Expo web site. Not sure if there's a best place to find the best prices.

Age of Sail seems to have the widest selection and good prices. Model Expo is mainly for Model Shipways and Midwest (though they sell some others).

You might also consider Cornwall Model Boats.

Their shipping charges to US are surprisingly competitive with US shops, and their pricing on European kits are discounted considerably compared to US prices.
