The only thought I have would be for you to go to the Scratch Area and have a look through the logs from 1901 to the present day.

Welcome aboard, Jeffery!

Ideally, to make a 1/350 or 1/200 scale model you should work form plans in that scale. That way, you can take 1:1 measurements off the plans using a pair of dividers. Do you have plans already? What scale are they drawn in? If you know the plan scale, you can calculate a % enlargement (or reduction) to arrive at the desired scale. A print shop that handles large-size copies (such as blueprints) can probably do the scaling for you and make copies at the desired size.

Cheers!

No sir I do not I am not sure how large the plans would need to be for 1/350 or for 1/200 to do the measurements kinda was hoping somebody knew an could help out

Hi Jeffery, welcome to MSW. I just used an online scale calculator and plugged in 1/200 scale for 728 feet which Wikipedia gave as the length of a North Carolina class battleship. It came up with 43.68”. The width came in at 6.48”. You would have to verify that because I have been known to be wrong before. You can play around with these calculators to see what scale is best for you.

Regards……..Paul

Hi Jeff, Welcome to Model Ship World!  Based on the dimensions of the USS North Carolina from Wikipedia a quick calculation results in the following estimated model dimensions:

USS North Carolina
Actual Length    728 ft 9 in (222.12 m)

Model hull length
    1/350 - 8,745 inches / 350 = 24.98 "
    1/200 - 8,745 inches / 200 = 43.725"

Actual Beam    108 ft 4 in (33.02 m)

Model Beam
    1/350 - 1,300 inches / 350 = 3.7"
    1/200 - 1,300 inches / 200 = 6.5"

Actual Draft    32 ft 11.5 in (10.046 m)

Model Draft
    1/350 - 395.5 inches / 350 = 1.13"
    1/200 - 395.5 inches / 200 = 1.98"

I'm sure others in the group may have a better way to calculate the model dimensions but this should give you a close approximation of the model size and the plan size needed.

Good luck on your project.
