Hi there,

I recently started building wooden ship, but have been building models (mostly plastic) since I was a kid (with a big break between my 20s to 50s).

Main reason for me starting, is that I am about to retire soon, and felt that this hobby would be great for me, despite some challenges, I am blind in one eye, which sometimes makes it harder to do things like rigging, as you can imagine.

I have started with what I believe is a fairly simple and easy model (Virginia Schooner from Artesiana Latina), I have already tried to do some modifications of my own, which I thoroughly enjoy doing!

I am initially intending to use this website more as a guide to help me overcome my mistakes (yes, I’ve made a lot).

I am soon to stat the rigging, which I believe will be my biggest challenge, but I think this model should be a good introduction, I don’t believe it is too complicated.

Thank you for accepting me to this forum, I am looking forward to learn a lot

Welcome aboard, Andreas. This link may help you out with your rigging. Peter did a great job on his Virginia build and an even better job of explaining the rigging. You will find that info in his build log. Enjoy!!
