Next batch of pictures, these are dealing with the shield holders and floor construction.

 

This was the last i did on the old mast fish before i decided to remake it from scratch.

is the pictures from the rebuilding of the mast fish. I kind of tilted,
took a bit of wood and began a loooong journey of scratch building the
mast fish.

This is partly what i a have been doing since last. as you can see i have rebuilt some of the smaller parts. And have also begun construction of the sail.

 

I have also built the mast, but forgot to take some pictures of that work.

This is the sail. Yes it will be out of scale. :(

But i am too much of a noob to even think of trying "pulling the thread" techniques etc.

 

I visited the swedish National Historical Museum and took a lot of pictures on the large Oseberg model the have. I have constructed the sail after their theory of how it was made.

You're really a shipwright! Great realization.

How did you make a so perfect carving, as shown in the last picture of post #78?

To be honest i actually do not remember, i think i just worked my way down with a simple razor blade and sand paper, a lot of patience and time it took.

I think it took me 3 months to construct the mast fish from scratch.

Really interesting log with a lot of improvements. I have the kit also in msy shelf. If I start the build I will remember your log.
