Looks like another very nice build, I can see these type of kits doing very well for people who don't like planking, and would like to concentrate on adding more details.

Time for an update, the first pic shows the area around the stern post planked as well as the outside of the transom, I also added the wood name plate backing and painted it black to receive the Virginia brass PE letters. The second pic shows the inside of the transom planked and I added a small piece of wood between the deck boards and the transom base (not sure what you call it) I also added the 2 ribs against the transom and I planked the inside of the bulwarks. All comments welcome.

Thanks Geoff, thanks David I will make a few mods, the chain plates are just twisted wire I don't like that and the bow sprit will need some work to.

Great work Danny on a very sad ship, and a heck of a nice thing to do. Amazing what you can do with so little.

Thanks Russ, there are a few small gaps in the planks but nothing big enough to effect the second layer of planks. Now I have to start trimming the planks for the false keel stem and stern post.

Time for another update, in the first 2 pics the first layer of hull planks are 100% installed, in the last pic most of the heavy sanding has been done by the dremel contour sander in the back round, love them power tools. All comments welcome.

About the NRG
If you enjoy building ship models that are historically accurate as well as beautiful, then The Nautical Research Guild (NRG) is just right for you.
The Guild is a non-profit educational organization whose mission is to “Advance Ship Modeling Through Research”. We provide support to our members in their efforts to raise the quality of their model ships.
The Nautical Research Guild has published our world-renowned quarterly magazine, The Nautical Research Journal, since 1955. The pages of the Journal are full of articles by accomplished ship modelers who show you how they create those exquisite details on their models, and by maritime historians who show you the correct details to build. The Journal is available in both print and digital editions. Go to the NRG web site (www.thenrg.org) to download a complimentary digital copy of the Journal. The NRG also publishes plan sets, books and compilations of back issues of the Journal and the former Ships in Scale and Model Ship Builder magazines.
