Well guys and gals it's time for the final update of this build. I posted plenty of pics so check them out and feel free to leave any comments you like. I would like to thank everyone on the forum for all the views and comments I got a lot more than I thought I would. I will start a new build and in a few days with pics of course.

There is a very good reason for not just using super glues, working time, you get little or none. I think in most cases you are better off with the wood glue this way if you need to shift or remove a part you have a much longer working time.

Hi glad too see another Virginia build, check mine out if you wish I am about 80% done, maybe you will get some ideas for your build. As for question 2 and 4 several of the parts Latina has supplied are metal but on the cover shot they are wood, there is no reason not to use the metal parts, I chose to scratch build them both for looks and one of my cheeks was badly bent. if you use the metal parts you will have to use super glue. Question 5 I did not bother to dilute the glue no need.

Time for a very small update, just one pick today of the anchors and the new hold downs. Next I will be working on installing the bolt ropes on my sails. All comments welcome.

Thanks for the picture, that will help. The anchors are already glued but I think I will add a few pieces of scrap wood along the sides of the anchors to hold the steel bands, that should look a lot better. thanks for your help.

I think you are doing really well on your build, to help bend your planks soak them in water first.

About the NRG
If you enjoy building ship models that are historically accurate as well as beautiful, then The Nautical Research Guild (NRG) is just right for you.
The Guild is a non-profit educational organization whose mission is to “Advance Ship Modeling Through Research”. We provide support to our members in their efforts to raise the quality of their model ships.
The Nautical Research Guild has published our world-renowned quarterly magazine, The Nautical Research Journal, since 1955. The pages of the Journal are full of articles by accomplished ship modelers who show you how they create those exquisite details on their models, and by maritime historians who show you the correct details to build. The Journal is available in both print and digital editions. Go to the NRG web site (www.thenrg.org) to download a complimentary digital copy of the Journal. The NRG also publishes plan sets, books and compilations of back issues of the Journal and the former Ships in Scale and Model Ship Builder magazines.
