Loving it! The details! Your work is commendable. Windlass details down to the square peg holes are a nice added touch and that brass pot sitting on your stove is pretty nice too.
Keep the pics coming mate....

That windlass is fantastic! Thanks for sharing the tip you learned with the squared nail. Might have to use that one myself next time.

And some more:
Installing knightheads( 3 x 3 mm) and top timbers
There are waterways to be installed, mine kept splitting on me so I spread some ca on them to strengthen them, and as you can see it bled though to the good side. Time to make new ones.
Then I decided rather than cutting out notches for all the top timbers in the waterway and going through more frustration I will install them on top of the waterway so..............
then I decided it was time for a change...the windlass. This was made from cherry turned on the lathe what you see here is the fourth attempt, I also replaced the supports and made them from cherry also.
This showing the filed down nail used to make the holes square. This is an idea I got from DocBlake.
Gluing .5 x 1 mm strips onto drum
The finished product, still needs one or two more coats of wipe on poly. The fancy ends are inspired by B.E.'s cathead decoration on his Pegasus
Thanks for stopping by

A little update:
Grates for ship's stove, just brass rod ca'd together
The pieces for stove
Completed, added handles and hangers. The pot is a flattened out penny with brass rods soldered on for handles

Elijah got a reaction from CaptainSteve in Phantom by Elijah - FINISHED - Model Shipways - 1:96 - New York Pilot Boat
Hello again! I realize it has been much too long since I last posted, being exactly one month ago. Since then I have finished the standing rigging, rigged the deadeyes, built an attached the main boom, and added the necessary rope coils. The rope coils are tricky to work with, but I think they look pretty good. I really like the way the ropes look paying through a block. You can probably tell because a lot of the pictures are just that ! There's not much left now! OK, here are the pictures !
Until next time!

Elijah got a reaction from CaptainSteve in Constitution by Geoff Matson - Model Shipways 2040 - 1/76 scale
Those little rigging details are looking nice Geoff! What have you used your Byrnes rope walk for and how often do you use it?

Elijah reacted to Geoff Matson in Constitution by Geoff Matson - Model Shipways 2040 - 1/76 scale
Thanks Elijah. I am making all the rigging line for my Constitution with the Byrnes Ropewalk. The scale is 1/87 and I can get much more realistic rope that way

Thanks Lawrence! You're right, you are just a little bit early. I may have an update coming later today or tomorrow. All that's left is to build and rig the main gaff, install rigging for 3 more sails, build and rig the fore gaff, and lastly make and rig the flags. Anyway, there will be more later! Thanks for stopping by .

Elijah reacted to xken in Dirty Dozen by xken - FINISHED - Abalone Fishing Boat
Greg, ModelMotorCars purchased Scale Hardware and plan to offer their products on their website over time. Scale Hardware just retired without notice and MMC bought all the inventory so keep checking back time to time as items are added to their website.

That is good news for Constitution builders but hopefully they'll also carry the smaller rivets down to the 0.4 mm size that Scale Hardware carried (along with the rest of their product line).

Great News! Here is a link to purchase rivets in various quantities. These would be great for the inner walls on ships like the USS Constitution.

John, yes they will have labels along with the instruments. I will try and make all decals at one time once I get the artwork done. I will have to saw out the Dirty Dozen name on the back as well.
DVM27 all the horizontal surfaces were painted with an anti skid texture; could have been crushed abalone shells mix in the paint. Here is a picture from the real boat.
Pat my mother was born in Moncton and my father in New Castle on the Mirmiachi River.
Jack, Steve thanks again!

Ken:
Great work as usual. A very attractive model. Great news about Scale Hardware! I buy a lot from them and was very unhappy when the doors closed. Glad it was bought up and I can get parts again.

Hi Ken
I know I'm coming in at the end game, but having reviewed the entire log I wanted to say your work is really great, and I appreciate the detailed explanations. Thanks for sharing!
