  1. Welcome to Model Ship World. You are not alone as a lot of us started out as older beginners.
  2. Congratulations Bob on finishing your DoK. You did a masterful job on building this model and I am sure you will be wearing that grin every time you look at this model. Job well done!
  3. Welcome to Model Ship World Brian. Your Lady Nelson and Longboat look well built. You will find a wealth of information on MSW to enhance your ship modeling skills.
  4. Welcome to Model Ship World Spumoni. I have attached a link to build logs of the KIng of Mississippi that you may find helpful: https://modelshipworld.com/tags/king of the mississippi/
  5. Hi Mark and welcome to Model Ship World.
  6. I am deeply sorry to hear about Rodney’s passing. Your Astrolabe build will be a meaningful and heartfelt tribute to his memory.
  7. Welcome to Model Ship World Manuel. You picked a good kit for your first wooden ship model. Thanks for sharing your progress with us.
  8. Welcome to Model Ship World Friedie. Thanks for showing us your Lego build. These kits are more than just the basis building blocks.

  11. Congratulations on reaching this milestone. No apologies needed for your excitement. I would be jumping for joy if this were my model.
  12. Your Sherbourne is looking good. We all have instances where we say "why did I do that this way". There have been many times where I thought that I should have put more thought into doing a particular step on my model.
  13. Welcome to Model Ship World Peter. Once you start building your wooden ship model, you will have a lot of support from the members here on MSW. The Nautical Research Guild has a motto "taint a hobby if you gotta hurry". I have no doubt that you will do just fine in this hobby.
  14. Your workmanship and organization look great. Your model is going to turn out great.
  15. Hi Jim and welcome to Model Ship World. You have come to the right place to start your journey in building model ships.
  16. You are off to a good start. Should be an interesting build.
  17. Welcome to Model Ship World. It looks like you are off to a good start. I am glad you figured out the false deck fit problem. You definitely want to sand the deck after you have laid down the individual deck planks. I usually start with 150 grit, then progress to 240 grit and finish with 320 grit. Just take off enough wood to make the deck smooth. Good luck on your build.
  18. Beautiful job Tom. I hope to see this at the Northeast Joint Clubs Conference and Show in April.
  19. Congratulations on finishing your Dory. You did a good job on building this model. It looks so clean and crisp.
