  1. Hi Dale and welcome to Model Ship World.
  2. Welcome to Model Ship World. There is a wealth of maritime history around the Chesapeake Bay. For us ship modelers, there are several ship model clubs and maritime museums close to the Bay.
  3. Since the model will be painted, I would glue the piece back on that broke off or glue a piece of scrap wood on the edge. Once the glue is thoroughly dry, you can carefully sand it to match the unbroken side. This is what I like about working with wood.
  4. Welcome to Model Ship World Andrew. You are making a good start in this hobby.
  5. Hi Bob and welcome to Model Ship World. If you get a chance, please post some pictures of you Phantom and your in progress AVS. Here is a list of all of the build logs tagged "Armed Virginia Sloop". https://modelshipworld.com/tags/armed virginia sloop/
  6. Welcome to Model Ship World Swimmer. I saw the pictures of your Mikasa in your build log and you have really done a good job in building this model.
  7. Welcome to Model Ship World Philippe. Congratulations on your retirement.
  8. Congratulations Francois on finishing your Granado. Your build turned out great and will be a nice model to display.
  9. Good job on the first four frames, but frame 5 looks to be off. It could be the photography, but if not, you should debond the joints and reglue them. You could soak the joints with 91% isopropyl alcohol.
  10. Welcome to Model Ship World.
  11. I started another ship model and then another. It got put on the back burner and occasionally I will pull it out and do a little work on it. I should really dedicate my time to finish this model. It will be almost 22 years since I started this build. Way too long to not have finished it.
  12. Hi Alan and welcome to Model Ship World.
  13. Welcome to Model Ship World Joanie. Your Bluenose is coming along nicely.
  14. Congratulations Bill on finishing your Revenue Cutter. You did an excellent job on building this model.
  15. Congratulations Chuck on your impending move. You are moving to a beautiful location and I know that you and Patti will enjoy your new home. Just the beauty of your new area will result in less stress than the city living. Moving to a modern home will relieve you of the constant upkeep that you have in your current 100 year old home and give you more time to develop future products for the ship modeling community.
  16. Congratulations on finishing your Winchelsea. Your model is a work of art. I have enjoyed following your build log and it will definitely be a great reference for future Winchelsea builders.
  17. Welcome to Model Ship World Baboun.
  18. You will not go wrong on building the Duchess of Kingston. It builds into a beautiful model, plus the designer and manufacturer of this kit is on this site if you should have any questions.
  19. In the Search box, click on the search icon. This will open up the "advanced" search page. Enter the member name you are searching for in the search term box and check "Content titles only"in the find result in... area. This will bring up build logs for the member your are searching for.
  20. I would go with a kit that was designed within the last three to five years. Both Vanguard and OcCre have highly detailed build instructions, whereas some of the older kits from the established manufacturers have instructions that are decades old. The highly detailed instructions are definitely a help to the novice builder and will help the builder to achieve a finished model.
