Here you go Joe,not much to look at,looks like one of the cheap sprayguns,but it does what it says on the tin.The abrasive powder is also a badger product and comes in plastic jars.Sorry no pic of that because I have run out and need to restock.The fitting on the air hose is my addition because I do all spraying from a large compressor.It does have the standard fitting on the end. Just a suggestion Kevin and I know it would be another thing to buy.On my RC DSV there were miles of railings including solder work.The nicest tool I found to clean these up was a Badger abrasive gun.It is like a mini shot blaster,but no where near as fierce as it sounds.The abrasive is aluminium oxide but it is a powder.This would make light work of your photoetch and make a superior surface for both paint and glue.Like I say it isn't harsh and wouldn't damage anything,I have even blasted items holding them with my bare hands,it really is that gentle.Just thought is might be an easy alternative to be doing it all by hand. It is a very sad day Dave,I must agree and fairly typical in the Uk.As you know modelzone folded,not that they really sold anything I wanted,but a shop fairly local to me shut(been going there for thirty five years!)This was especially upsetting because it was a real aladin's cave with staff that knew their stuff. I am faced mainly with buying stuff mail order,but if I know that the modelshop 20 miles away stocks what I want,I will make a point of buying it from them.I don't want that one to close otherwise I may need something immediately and have to wait two days for the postman.Mail order is great but to a point.If you buy your planking ready cut then it is nice to go to the shop and pick through the timber to get strips all of the same colour.As for your running gear your best option is unfortunately mail order and cornwall model boats is your best bet.The best traditional model shop I know of and have actually been a couple of times is westbourne model centre but unfortunately it is the wrong side of the New Forest for you. Interesting process Antony.The only problem I can foresee is when you turn the barrel to shape,the staves will appear a funny shape,hard to explain the geometry on the keyboard,but if the barrel tapers top and bottom the staves will be crescent shaped,due to the way the wedges are orientated.I do hope I am wrong,but I would turn one before making the others up Kind Regards Nigel
