michael20 got a reaction from popeye the sailor in Jolly Roger Pirate Ship by Kimberley - FINISHED - Lindberg - PLASTIC - 1:130
Kimberly,
Modeling for me has always been a thing that I could do that no one could say you were doing it right or wrong, a place of relaxation and the only person you had to satisfy was yourself. you will find that the more you do it the more you will learn and you will find there are several ways to do things. As for the painting part, you don't like how something turns out just simply paint over it, that has always worked for me. Keep going, you are doing a fine job.
Happy Modeling

Hello Jessie,
Catching up on your build, man that is some fantastic work. I have an idea that may help you in the future for peeling the backing off those copper strips, roll some masking ape upon itself, lay the strip down on the table with the copper side down and roll the tape over the plate with your finger. the backing will adhere to the tape and peel off. Try that, I believe it will make things a bit easier. Love the build so far Jessie, I know you are your own worst critic but I can't see any issues with your build. Have fun.
Happy modeling,

michael20 got a reaction from Nirvana in 18th century Longboat by fnkershner (Floyd Kershner) - Model Shipways - 1:48
Hello Floyd,
If you look at Ryland Craze's build log, he used boxwood and he had a heck of a time with it. He explained to us that he had to soak it and did a lot of prebending to get it to fit on his longboat. You might want to pm him and get a heads up.

Hull looks very nice from Palm Coast, Florida Popeye Dennis - but you are closer to it and will do whatever it takes to make it look perfect. Cover the bow then uncover the bow, now I am curious to see what you're coming up with. Whatever it is it'll be just great. We do like surprises
Cheers,

michael20 reacted to kees de mol in Pelikaan 1999 by kees de mol - FINISHED - scale 1/75 - Dutch Beamtrawler
The only thing I know is that the owner uses Jotun 473 paint (thats what he says) The had no RAL number for me. After lots of surching on the internet I found out dat 473 is a number of the Brittish Standard (BS473)
This is the colour the say is the right one
This colour looks a little brown(ish) and I think it's more the colour of the antifouling
This is the colour I want. I think there is some purple in it. But on every photo the colour looks different so I am trying some different combinations
I am also building the nozzles and props but that will follow soon

Hi,
The wooden hull had ice strenghenings on the bow and stern made of iron bars fixed on planking surface.
