Well, let us post some photos here,,,

The first ones are of very low quality since photographed from a camcorder screen, but you can get the impression what is going on. If you visit my build log (Zeven Provincien, 1665), you can probably see a bit more detailed explanation of the first steps which were similar to Mile’s.

First: Making the hull...

Last year I built a pair of loudspeakers. Now, I can use the wood I cut out for the speakers and can bring the sandpaper on it – practical for 90°grinding. Good I didn’t throw it away...

Hi Jan,

Well, I do not have any detailed info in my plans about which parts are included in the sternpost and stem, but I went through Ab’s book Shipbuilding by Witsen and Dik’s 7P, looked at Wasa, Blom’s drawings, and the Model by Herbert Thomaesen. Finally, most of the info I got from the replica, which definitely has a triangle on the sternpost, but also the front parts on the stem are on the replica built in the way you see on my last photo above.

According to that, I see that there are often simplifications on the stem construction (e.g. model by Herbert) but, as my model is relatively big, I will do it more exactly and show the particular parts of the construction: The white paint below water line, I will airbrush or put thin layers, so will hopefully see the “puzzle” beneath the paint.

Well, I have decided to proceed with the keel and planking first. After this is ready, I will do the railing.

Here are the parts for the sternpost and stem. I have cut them out and some of the parts are ready to be assembled.

Hi Doris,

just found your very interesting build log here. I send you few photos of Royal Caroline, a very dear friend from Zagreb/Croatia, Mile Bijelić built before several years. He won with this model his first gold-medal at the World championship 1998.

If you want to have more photos (I have several) in higher resolution, send me a PM please. Mile is right now building his 2nd Royal Caroline, he has just finished the decks and is moving to the planking.

Unfortunately he is not using computer at all so, I will try to take some photos next time I visit Zagreb and him.

The deck planking is now ready, covered with shellac.

I took the gratings out before painting/coating the decks. The cross parts are not beveled as they shall be (also not on the frame where they lay), but this is hidden/not seen on the model - so I did not make it.

first to clear the one thing. The model on the pictures in the post #142 is not a wodden, but a plastic one, made by a Dutch  company Artitec. No serial kit, but a prototype/single model.

Still have interest to know how they did it? Than, you may ask there (www.artitec.nl). I have no info on the painting technique applied on this model. Please, come back to me if you need more info

So, you say: like the solution by Artitec as on the 1^st photo?

Funny, the Vasa has the visser in the length direction bolted to the beams (as on the 2^nd photo).

Seems, both solutions are OK?

Jan,  I need/mean the stronger "floor" capstan is set on. You see it on my 2^nd Vasa picture, but I do not see how it has been done and how it has been connected to the beams and how the deck planks have been fixed (to it?).

The Artitec model, on the first picture seems to have capstan on the deck planking what seems to me not really a strong enough construction. There, the deck plankings are set in the cross direction.

Does anybody have a photo/drawing/shetch of the construction of the partner under the capstan on the upper deck on Vasa?

Cannot see clearly from my photos how this has been done.

There are just different ways how to do it...
