  1. For the life of me, cannot figure out how to make a pre order. Maybe if I wait a bit longer a pre order won’t be necessary. The figures posed in deck cleaning activities will help make an interesting display.
  2. Thanks Ken. It won’t be as prominent with the guns in place. The flat coat tones it down a lot as well.
  3. Thanks Mike. I think the base will really set it off. Got to wait until tomorrow or Monday to start painting the base. Paint on order due to arrive then.
  4. Trying not to over do it…added some streaking light rust, grime, and light gray. Want to keep it subtle. A good dull coat over everything should blend it all much better. Waiting until my guns and blast bags are finished and installed for the dull coat.
  5. The kit provides a section of clear monofilament (fishing line) for the railings. I decided to replace it with Plastruct .3mm styrene rod.
  6. Thanks for the comments gentlemen. Will do a little more weathering then give it all a dull clear coat to seal it all in. Saving the railings for last as I am afraid of breaking them while handling the model. I've already dumb-thumbed the stanchions a couple of times but stopped short of actually breaking them off.
  7. I have hand painted some chipping effects and detailed some raised parts, then gave the entire model a good gloss coat of lacquer. This gloss coat is in preparation for washes and other effects to be added later after it dries thoroughly.
  8. A few years ago I splurged and bought a 1:200 Scharnhorst with all the laser cut frames, photo etch, brass barrels, anchors, props, etc. Then I realized I likely bought more to chew than I could swallow. 😐
  9. In the past I have ordered from GPM as well as from a now defunct seller in Ukraine. But I still wonder why hobby shops in the USA make no effort to sell these products. Maybe it’s a matter of no USA distributor to order from.
  10. Are these available in hobby shops in the UK, or do you mail order the kits? I have never seen a card model in a US shop and I wonder why.
  11. After whole model was shot with Mr Color leveling thinner. I should have mentioned, I am using lacquer paints. Please do not use Mr Color leveling thinner over a model painted with acrylics. You will ruin your model.
  12. I added white to the gray used for the main color for the post shading. The blend knocks the gray down a notch or two. Then I followed the same shading pattern in the pre shading to highlight the model a bit. Next, will shoot the whole model with Mr Color leveling thinner 400 to help blend these two colors together.
  13. With the photo etch and other small details installed, the model is ready for IJN gray paint. The stanchions and railings will be installed after a couple of paint and paint filter stages to help prevent breakage from handling.
