I used my vast storehouse of vile language while attaching the top and bottom wings. Fiddly doesn’t begin to describe the nature of it, though I do believe there is a certain benefit from going through the ordeal. Patience and endurance maybe?

Very nice cockpit. 3D cockpits are a great addition to the aircraft modeling detail parts arsenal. Been seeing some real nice examples of them on Ebay from eastern Europe.

Yes, top and bottom wings are supported, and each wing incidence angle can be set separately. I rig the top wing before gluing the struts in place. Once the struts are in place with glue dried, I will attach the rigging from the top wing to the bottom wing.

It's a "walk through" display at Brooklands Museum alongside R-Robert. Basically just a fuselage using assorted items collected over the years, but it really does make you appreciate what the crew went through every time they flew.

Thanks everyone for the comments and the likes, they're always greatly appreciated!

@Rick01 Which Wellington is that? The poor thing looks quite stripped down, is it being restored? (Fully or partially?)

@Egilman LOL I would hesitate to call myself one of the "1/72nd guys"...yet! I have some experience in 1/87th as far as model trains go, but nothing quite as finely detailed as this. Aside from ship models, most of my PE experience comes from working with Athabasca Scale Models kits. (Back when they were still in business, some of their stuff can still be found kicking around). They tended to require a little something a little more akin to brute force than finesse!

Carrying on with Wimpy, More fine PE detail work, although this is more along the lines of file off the grey plastic blob and add this more detailed face plate.

    First up, the radio station:

    Next up the cockpit console:

The kit supplies decals for the instrumentation, but this looks way better in my opinion. I like the depth in the individual gauges. Although I don't need this part yet, it's nice to have it finished and ready for installation when the time comes (soon enough).

This now officially brings me up to step 8 in the instructions (still one page 1, though).

This now means I have the pilot's seat, and some flight controls, as well as the radio operator's station built. Step 9 involves installing what I can only assume is the.... um... "extra functional" seating, above the aft end of the bomb bay decking.

I do need to grouse about the Eduard instructions regarding the seat belts, however. Specifically the lap belts for the pilot, it would have been nice to see a picture of how things were supposed to go, rather than some misleading drawing saying to bend the PE in some weird way and attach roughly to this location in some manner that cannot possibly work. Apologies if I have the lap belts incorrect, it's the closest I could figure out.

The view looking forward from the radio operator's station:

Slowly things are coming together. I'm almost through picking out the aluminium frame on one fuselage half, and after some touch up, more assembly can progress (at least until some more PE induced sidetracking crops up).

I wanted a Phantom on my shelf and decided to build this one for that spot. It won’t be started until I finish my current F.2B project.

I disassembled my three kit books and took the pages to Office Depot for copies on their laser color printer. I got one full size copy and one half size copy of each book for a grand total cost of $20 after tax. That’s a total of 24 pages on similar paper as the original. 4 of those pages were 11x17. Great quality as well as great price IMO. I won’t be cutting my original books any more from this point forward. Copies only.

No biggie brother... the admiral wanted to see it assembled so I threw it together... No glue, I'll get back to it when time allows and do a better job of it...

So she is sitting on top of the cabinet looking all intimidating... {chuckle} and yes it is large....

Yours is looking very nice brother and the velociraptor will be a nice comparison piece...

Looking at my pics  of the  Velo  -  I wll attempt  to  cut the gaps  between  its  rib cages  all the  way to the spine,  as it looks  odd  as it is.,     should be alot  "Alot"    easier  to work on as its  the  same scale as  Rex  but  only  10inches   long  real length  would be  between  5 and 6feet  in real life.

But I didn't stop  there   - you know that  little  Velociraptor  dig kit  my  admiral  got me,    well  I decided  to start it  as it will  be placed on my  Rex  base   -   so   first  off  the  box  then  the  mould  of  hard plaster,    then  on with the  dig,    included  in the kit  is  also  a tiny  Diplodocus  that basically snaps   together  -  its  looks  cute  I will  still  paint it  up  and shade it,  the admiral said  she fancy's  putting it on her shelves  when finished.
Next  was to start the dig  - so I donned  my  boots  and  hard hat  and went in using the plastic tools  included  -  gently  gently  hammering away using the plastic chisel  from the edges  till  part of the skeleton  was exposed  -  I continued  for about an hour  till  I found all the parts.   I cross  checked with the instructions  (all  there)  then I  binned  the  broken plaster  pieces.

I have placed all the parts  on my mat.

Evening all,    so  I managed  more time  on rexy   to day,  I have been  putting   base layers  on the different  sections  at a time  - due  to the shere  size of them,  but as  the  skull/head  has had enough  - I decided  to  try some  shading  starting with  Black,  again  I can only do one side at a time  due to the  watery slow drying washes.
