Just came across your build. It's looking really good! I have always liked the look of this boat- almost a racing yacht of a fishing boat.

Matt, you have mad skills in so many areas that French polishing would be easy for you. The smooth shape of this hull would also lend itself to it. BTW, nice deck planking! Keep up the great work!

"PS 2: SOS is my dream build - not there yet in terms of skills, but getting much closer (comfort-skills wise)"
I think you are more than already there in terms of skills and equally as important, already there in patience and the ability to see many steps ahead. Your work continues to amaze me!

That's looking great!! So what direction are you thinking of going **French polish** with the finish on the hull? As smooth and as beautifully planked **French polish** as you have the hull, you might consider something like a French polish to really add depth and make that cherry pop!

Hmmm, if I may be so bold ... I should advise spool knitting, it's easier ... doesn't require much dexterity, and two pins may be rather confusing to start with
I would suggest a nice ale!

Congrats Matt! I think you may have set the record on how far out of the box one can go! Nice job!

If a ship looking like that was coming for you, it would definitely strike fear. It would be like death had come calling. Great work Matt! Definitely a fearless move to torch the sails while on the ship!

WOW!! Great fiddle blocks and block detailing. The ropes really lay in realistically with the drill bit work. Nice tip about the flat clear.

Catching up again Michael. Brilliant work throughout!! I appreciate your pointing out your thoughts as you work through these steps. It helps me learn as you learn. Thanks! Now if I can just learn your craftsmanship!!

I could not get the conversion to pdf format to work. Another problem arose on a log that had pictures linked from an outside source. When viewing the page, everything looks fine, but when the page is downloaded and viewed offline, the images are no longer there. Another reason why what Brian said is important.

Aargh!! I thought I had it. I had downloaded a couple of logs and opened the file where I saved them (as html) and everything viewed great. The page buttons scrolled right through without any problems. I turned off my laptop's wireless connection and checked it one more time, and the first page views ok, but the others do not. They had actually been linking back to the website when I clicked page 2 and up. Looks like it is going to be a one page at a time deal. Well I am patient (or stubborn) so I'll work it out.
I will go back and get the rest of the pages of a short log I was trying to save, and then try to combine them as a pdf file. I'll let you know how that works. It was the La Couronne build of Majq's which suddenly stopped at the 4th page. I had pm'd him a long time ago but never heard back. Does anyone know if he is OK?

I used Mark's link to his downloading an entire build log instructions and it works great! Thanks Mark! I'm using IE 11 and used the download icon in the bottom left of the log page.
Unfortunately, Augie's Syren build does not have that icon. I don't know if that has to do with the log being locked or not. I have sent a message to Nazgul (Matti) about downloading his Wasan build log, but I noticed that his log did not have the download icon either. Is there a way to access the download feature if the icon is not there?
I was hoping to download the logs of my friend, the mad chemist (Keith). I was too late. Unfortunately, the majority of his pictures and postings are no longer there and I suspect that he linked them from somewhere that does not exist anymore. Did anyone save those?

Is it possible to download an entire build log? If so, how do you do it? Just thinking back to the big MSW 1 crash when so much was lost. Are there copyright concerns? I was thinking of some logs like Augie's which could never be replaced, and some others I would like to have for future reference. If the log's author is still reachable, I would ask their permission first of course. With relatively inexpensive storage units like Seagate's USB models, it seems like a good idea to save some of the treasures contained here.
Best wishes

Hope you all had a great Christmas and wishing you an awesome 2016!
It's been taking forever for me to finish this whaleboat, so I put in a call to engineering and asked them to send someone down to the dry dock to help me make a punch list for the work needed to complete this build. Meet Becky.
She gave the whaleboat a thorough examination and will send her report in a few days.
She liked the leather lined clumsy cleat in the thigh board.
She did not like the mast hinge!
Actually, I wanted to learn how to airbrush acrylics, make custom decals, learn dry brushing and washes and try working with a resin kit. I was looking for a 1/25th scale figure to use, but found this 1/20th scale figure on eBay and thought she was perfect. At the 1/25th scale of the whaleboat, Becky is 6'-3" tall.
Best wishes

Ouch!! You must have been Kung fu fighting a board of white oak! The busted hand has not diminished the terrific quality of your work though.
