God start on the fairing of the frames. Also smart to place those filler blocks at the bow. They will help put a lot when you go to plank.

With regards to bending the planking sideways:
As you can see on my picture above, it is possible to run the planks in such a way that you do not need to bend the planks much at all at the stern.
The real area to keep an eye on is the bow. Quite a bit of bending is required here. In fact if were to do this again, for the bow, I would cut curved planks..
It's hard to get a picture from the museum that does not exhibit fish-eye effects. (for obvious reasons you cannot take a picture from a distance)
So here's an older picture:
This is what I did for plank run at the stern:

The arching planks towards the stern overhang looks a bit thick.
I would probably remove these and just use the second layer planking.
Remember, the decoration here goes on the outboard side of the planking without it being obvious from a distance that this is the case.
This is what I did (sorry, not very sharp):

Pucko,
Post a specific photo of what you exactly mean. - and pos. one of the planks as well. I'm sure that members here will have some ideas.
I have certainly been helped a lot. I may even have an idea as well.
I looked back up to your stern photos and was not sure what you are trying to work out.
Cheers,

Thanks Michael!
The photo will be helpful.
Now my main problem is that curve of the planks towards the aft of the hull. DeAgostinis second planking wood is 0,5X5mm and impossible to bend upwards without twisting. A real headscratcher for me now...

Pucko,
Peter sent a photo for another good look at door spacing. I was looking for other things in my files and ran across this one - then thought for you.
If you don't have this one it may be of help as well
oops it was almost 9MBs Glad I noticed I resized it. 780 kbs should give you a lot of definition.

Frank.
Thanks so much - yes these sails will work.
Peaceful about this part of the build.

Thanks, I have followed your work - Your mastery of this work is so excellent. Not at your level of skills - that said, enjoying increasing my work
by learning from builders such as yourself. PS thanks for looking at my build log.

Thank you for all the likes
A very small update on the SR . I have finished planking the upper hull and have now started on the lower planking.
The garboard plank has been fitted and left to dry over night. The second one was butted up and glued to the first one, it's a bit of a slow process as that nasty four letter word gets in the way ie work so the time for building is limited at the moment. Can't wait for next week as I am on the early shift and get all the afternoon to build. As you can see there are gaps between the planks that end in a sharp point at the stern , not to worried about them as this is the first planking and will be filled with steelers. The second planking will be layed differently and hopefully no steelers or very few
Thanks for following rgd Martyn

EJ_L reacted to leginseel in HMS Bounty by Steve 12345 - FINISHED - Billing Boats - 1:50
Unfortunately Constructo just say drill 2cm hole as per drawing. I think I'm going to slightly oversize the holes and shim the mast bases up when the stays are rigged. Long way off yet though.

Hi Nigel the hole in the false plywood deck predetermined the size it is a snug fit but the mast was free to move in any direction, billings provides measurements for you to find the correct angle of the mast

Lovely work Steve, you make it all look so easy.
One question - did you drill out the hole for the masts at the correct angle or slightly oversize to be able to adjust them as you rig?

Thanks harry ive noticed there seems to be a few ex rc guys around here that have now turned to ship building hopefully the skill sets will be similar and I wont be to lost ,as for the flying I don't anticipate that happening for at least a year and hope to have joined a club and flown some smaller models first seems crazy spending a year building something and sending it in the air but I think if I can pull it off id be real happy just to fly it a few times per year who knows we will see.
Back to the Bounty
after completion of all the chain links both port and starboard im onto placing the foremast
using my jig shown previous to set the angle first fitted was the forestay
then came the shrouds
followed by the backstays
and finally more forestays
forgive me if im not using the correct names of lines here
tomorrow evening I will complete the foremast by adding the lower rat lines then its onto the main mast using this little jig
thanks again for the views and comments guys

Getting the ship ready for her first planking I started to fair the bulkheads. I also decided to put a filler at the bow to help with the bending and securing of the planks. I used some scrap balsa wood I had and shaped it with my sanding sticks. The hardest part about fairing the bulkheads is telling myself... 'don't rush and when you think you're done, do it again'

EJ_L reacted to donrobinson in Trabakul by donrobinson - FINISHED - MarisStella - 1:32 scale
Hi John, you must have slipped in when I was typing. Thanks for coming by. They really are good kits and at this scale it is fun to add and change a few things. The boxes are not the normal flashy and colourful, but when you open the box and see the contents you soon forget about the box lid. Another good thing about the MarisStella colour scheme is that carrying one of these boxes into the house will not catch the Admiral's eye near as much!!

Frank: Thanks so much for stopping in, really good to hear from you again. How is the Red Dragon coming along?
Zoran: Hello, Thanks for the compliment, much appreciated
Doug: Thanks, it was a hot day here yesterday. In the pictures clouds had just started rolling in and a short time later we had a pretty good rain storm. The rain was much needed as the mosquitoes were starting to suffer
Mike: Hey, how are things with you? Thanks for dropping in

I agree, I always looked at that Maris Stella model like its ok but really would not buy or build. Well you opened my eyes and taught me a lesson not to judge by a box cover. You have put the WOW factor into your build, paint scheme is fantastic it really pops in addition to the extras you covered the deck with an excellent job. Don't judge a book by its cover.

Don, quite exquisite! The small details have me dazzled. But splitting wood in July! I - hope its not cold in Prince Albert! The setting for you photos looks very pastoral.
