Thanks to all for stopping in, for your comments and for all the likes. Got a little more done in the last two days mainly the ship's stove is now installed complete with a stockpile of firewood and an axe. The pump was also made and installed, this is a little kit included with the package, I think it looks pretty good. It came with 3 mm copper strapping for the bands, however, I replaced that with some card stock
Hope you enjoy, have a good evening

Sal,
Glad I found your log early as it is always nice to get in at the beginning. You are off to a good start on the initial framing. Kit looks nice and I'm looking forward to seeing this build as it is on my list of future builds so it will be good to see how the kit stacks up.
Looking forward to the journey!

Great job indeed! The end result is what really matters and if you found a method that achieves a finish you like, then it is the right way!

Hi Mates,
Minor update–working on finishing up the first sail (lower main)
Then noticed (first pic of 1/10th) that a shoe block is used where I had already laced two deadeyes with a single block in-between.
PS: I know that you know where that is, just having fun adding red circles here and there……
Looked at Syren, and elsewhere could not find this type of block – so trying to make some. Prob. too much time spent here – may just use the single block instead. A work in progress ----======================
PS2: Joachim thanks for the post. I remember that extra extension. I saw it when I bought the lathe, but passed on it. I looked again at Proxxon and elsewhere no longer seems to be available (even eBay did not have one)
Cheers,

Hi Michael,
interesting making of your blocks.
The Proxxon-Part cannot be bought on a regular way, but you can write an e-mail to Proxxon service and ask for this as a spare part (the part no. of mine was 34114-2015). Then they give you an offer with a price and you can order it. Me and some of my collegues did it this way.

Port side gun ports are in place, hull is sanded and ready for the second planking!
Started working on the stern below the cabin balconies. Framed up the stern ports and planked up to the balconies with the finish layer.
Going to take a break on her for a little while now before I really dive into the second planking. There is a lot of it but the second layer tends to go faster than the first and once I get going on it, I like to see it to the end. So before that I want to work some more on La Couronne as she is nearing completion. I may push to finish her up before I return to this log so it may be awhile before there are any new progress pics on here.

EJ,
As I understand it, the chase ports (early on) were used not just for guns. The guns weren't permanently installed there but stowed off to the side. They used the ports for ventilation and also for loading and off-loading any cargo/stores.
If I'm wrong and have misunderstood their functions, I hope someone will let me know.

Marvin welcome to the NRG/MSW forum. We truly appreciate your becoming a sponsor.
I have used Scale Hardware products and I am very happy you took over from Bob so these great miniature parts are still going to be available to us.

I used their products several years ago on my Biloxi schooner model. The brass bolts and nuts worked out very well for me. In the coming months I will be placing another order for an upcoming project.
