    Thanks Zappto,

I use ramin for the hull.
This was a leftover of wood from when we built our house 25 years ago.
I do not think that this quality of ramin is still available. What is now sold as ramin is much softer wood.

Al the other wood is cherry.

Planking the front side of the for castle.

Everything went according to plan. Until I discovered a mistake.
How could I miss something as stupid as this? On one side I'm 3 mm (slightly less than 1 / 8th inch) out of center.
Fortunately, the adhesive was not completely cured. So, cutting with a Stanley knife and breaking apart was still posible.

Sawing the frame so that it can bend.

    gluing and clamping

Back to planking again and treenailing.

    Ready

    The stempost is also reconstructed.
To be honest... The first attempt was not really a success and did not survive the construction process of the hull. He was broken off and is now made new again.

After sanding and put into the right shape (planking of the forcastle is started).

Here it is, the first completed quarter galleys roof. Starting to add the first of the decorative trim. I’ve also started to carve the upper wreath. So far so good.

The construction of the holes for the anchor cable.
As mentioned earlier, on most ships from this time I only find 2 holes (1 on each side).
For the dimensions and appearance I based myself on drawings and paintings from that time.

    Hello

    The 26ft longboat :

As mentioned, there's been some trial & error situations but here's my final shot.
Regarding it's color scheme, I must admit there's some personal interpretaion involved.
Furthermore something is puzzling me : referring to the AOTS-book there is some device that seems to secure the helm (see last pic) . Any ideas about its purpose ?

Best wishes for 2018 to you all

    Lorne,

    I will never use them.
So you can have these parts.

Shipping costs will be your biggest expense
Send me a message where you live (or just which country you live).
Then I can see what the price will be.
You can then decide whether you still want them or not.

Started building the balconies and quarter galleys. Lots of guess work here and a bunch of building and rebuilding to try to figure out how but they are coming along. Yes, there will be a third one at the bottom. Just haven’t got to it yet.

Past few weeks have been spent installing the below deck lanterns.  I decided to add a light to each one to hopefully illuminate some of the work done in the lower decks.  The light s are 1.8 mm orange LED that flicker to simulate a flame. To hang the lanterns a hole is drilled in the corresponding beam with some support wood on either side as the hole will weaken the beam.  I then gouged a small trough in the beam to fit the wiring.  The wires were then run through the beam and down a trough in the frame to exit beneath the lower deck.  The photos illustrate some of the work.

Below is an LED test fitted through the beam and frame

A close up on one lantern:

    Wiring complete for this one:

Multiple lights installed.  lots of wires!

A total of 10 lanterns and 4 LED "torches" will be installed.  All can be run with a nine volt battery.

Baker reacted to Andre in Wasa by Andre - FINISHED - Corel - 1:75
After not doing much on the Wasa for a long time, I continued with the cannons.
Having read and looked carefully at the beautiful examples of other Wasa builders, I had a good example on how to attach the blocks and ropes to the cannons for placing them on deck. The 3mm blocks and the 3mm hooks were bought by me at a Czech website, as I had figured out that these parts should be that small indeed. The hooks were actually a bit too narrow with its hook opening, so I had to bent somewhat.
The hole in the hook was therefore very small and I could not insert the medium thickness rope through the hole. As an excape, I used thinner rope to attach the hook to, and then attach this rope to the medium thickness rope. The knot became somewhat large, but still ok. Afterwards I fixated the knots with water diluted wood glue. The ruler is in cm.

The blocks needed some extra drilling with 0.7mm drill to be able to insert the rope. First I prepared the double block to have an loop from rope. Next the single block to have the long rope to pass through the ropes and a ring on the other side, to connect it to the cannon.

Here are all 16 cannons, with the blocks and ropes attached. The coin is a 5 eurocent.

The next steps are the placing on the deck of the Wasa. Of course, the first one is the one with which to figure out how to do so.
I used 1mm thickness wood pieces as sticks to holds the rope loop in place on top of the rings.

    So, 15 more to go...
