  1. Nils, I am eager to construct this ship. I find the project highly intriguing. However, it will have to wait until my retirement. Let me know if you need any details. I am looking forward to your progress. Hermann
  2. Hi Nils, I don’t know if you know, but there is a model plan for the „Feuerschiff‘‘ Elbe 1, scale 1:50. I don't know if the plan is from Helmut Thomas, or from somebody else. It has been a long time since I purchased the plan, I believe there are 6 sheets. But you can still buy the plan from eBay. Good luck with the build! I am curious how you manufacture the lenses. Hermann
  3. Thank you for explaining it. Yup, it is probably a very good idea so seal everything with varnish! Yes, there are many ways to lay a deck. I did it with black paper, but it is very messy when you are sanding it. The better way is to scrape it. The lover part in the picture is done scraping the upper part has to be done.
  4. I don’t know if somebody ran into this problem before. But here we go. I recently wanted to change the blade height and discovered that it was not moving at all. Well, make a long story short, it disconnected the saw and took the saw blade off. After that I turned the saw on it back to check what was wrong. Apparently the fine saw dust got somehow in the thread and blocked the grub screw from turning. It was so tight I had to use vise grip pliers to move it. After dismantling the whole thing and cleaned and lubricated it properly it worked as advertised again. The tools I used: - 11/16 & 7/16 wrench for removing the blade - vise grip pliers - 5/64 Allen wrench for removing the ball-joint coupling - 1/4-28 tap - WD-40 - brush And what do we learn out of this episode? Clean your tools from time to time! Happy modeling, Hermann
  5. Thanks for asking. I have the Constitution from Model Shipways. I sold already the fitting package, the gentleman didn’t want the hull. So here I am … I don’t plan to build another Constitution from BlueJacket, so I am selling it.
  6. Paul, Nice work on the Corvette! Wish I could see your work. I am also sometimes struggling with soldering small parts. Would love to be in a soldering workshop! Hermann
  7. My advice, do not overdo it with weathering. Model looks good! PM sent Hermann
  8. I am using Titebond, according to the manufacturer it is good for 1 year, but I had an open bottle for over 1 year and it was still good.Titebond quick & thick dries clear.
  9. I am selling the fittings for the USS Constitution from Bluejacket for $50 + shipping or best offer.
