Just a minor setback, Sam.  The last of the parts needed will be in tomorrow and once it's back together, maybe I can find my way back to Licorne.  She's in this mess somewhere.....

Hopefully the new model will have a bow and stern. It will, won't it, Frank?

Hi Patrick.  I hadn't said yet what my next project would be - but my plan is to build the Skipjack Kathryn, based on the HAER drawings.  I'm in the planning stage now, and won't be ready to cut any wood for a few weeks.

Kathryn has been designated as a National Historic Landmark, and is unique in its design.  I plan to include all of the interior construction as shown in the HAER drawings.  She's the oldest of the true skipjacks, built for the oyster trade.

Thanks everyone.  I'm glad you agree that the elegance is beginning to show.  That's the way it should be.  It should make you say, "Wow, I wish I had the money to have a boat like that to play around with".

    Hello Bob,

I,m not sure what they are called either - but they look sharp. I really like the new wood work additions at each corner of the cabin. Coming along beautifully.

Very nice shots of your beautiful completed Dunbrody. Happy to hear your planning a new build log start for January. Whatever the project - save me a front row seat.

    Hi Bob

Very, very nice. Those clerestory windows add, let's just say, a certain style and pizzazz to the overall ship. Very nice!

    HI all,

I decided to put a set of clerestory (is that what they are called on a boat?) windows on top of the saloon.  44 little pieces of wood later . . .  and here’s what it looks like.

    Hello Maury,

Just read your build log from the beginning and wanted to stick my head in to say what a fantastic job your doing.  Beautiful workmanship.  Such an interesting vessel and you have some very interesting conversations going on here.  I look forward to following your progress.

it's been a busy couple of weeks.........glad to be on some sort of 'even keel' again     I have done some modeling though,  in between the hustle and bustle..............one bit in particular.....you're gonna think I've gone stark raving mad {I am......but that's besides the point}.   the Syborn is still on the table;  I've vowed for it not to leave,  unless it's finished.  the other table is a mess.......but I'll leave that for the other story.

yesterday,  what started out as a procrastination from the mass production I was about to undertake,  was put into action.  a picture I showed earlier,  was the beginning of it.   the next step was to create the gaffs for the rack I started to shape.   I will have more very soon........but this is the only picture I have at the moment.

little bits of brass glued on the tips of tooth picks.....rather crude,  but effective.   my fingers have lost the sense of touch,  since being coated with CA.........this process is just as aggravating as I thought it would be.   either the piece is crooked,  or it lays down to one side or the other.......I have to keep propping it back to where I want the brass to position.  now I have to shape....and then paint them.   it will be a process........but I will proceed,  and eventually succeed

be back in a bit.........thanks again to all who are looking in

Thanks, Guys. Earlier today, I splashed a bit of Isopropyl about the place and removed the collar-plank. Once the new footings were sanded down level with the rest, I found that the collar was putting too much stress on the uprights, pulling them out of alignment.

I'll be needing to re-cut/re-groove that piece ... tomorrow.

The knees are in place for the first four beams.

If I keep going fore to aft with the beams, I think I have to get the mast partners drawn up and installed.  I have the layout of partner pieces from my Echo Section build.  Seems a reasonable place to start.  I'll pull more info. from Yedlinsky.    Lining up the hole with the mast step needs to be done, so a temporary mast needs to be set.
    Maury
