  1. Thank's Mike. Maybe one day I just might be able to say she's finished.
  2. Thanks Albert. We do have a long way to go to catch up to you but thank you for the kind remark's. Gary
  3. Hi Frolick. Thanks for the information on the Montague, didn't know this. Thank you for the kind words and glad that you like her.
  4. Hi Tobias and thank you for the compliments. Yes I drafted the plans of her, the half breadth plan and then her frames from that. I also drafted the lay out of her deck lines from the shear plans. One does have to be very careful because after many years the plans have enlarge, grown and redrafting this parts, help's straighten this out. Makes her easier to build. I do thank you for your kind words.
  5. Thanks guys. Guy your right about that, have been busy that's for sure. Thanks druxey, thought that might add a little detail to her. If you look close at the top of the capstan. I installed some pin's and chain's for holding the bar's in place. Still a lot to do on her, just need to spend a lot more time on her. Once I get the beams installed I may just have some fun and install the stove that I built a couple of years ago.
  6. Hello every one. It's been awhile since I posted any thing on Montague/Alfred but wanted to get the the planking done on the Winchelsea and after 6 month's or so of building the bulkhead's and planking her in boxwood I finally went back to work on Montague/Alfred. Been slowly working on adding more beams to the upper deck. I added a few photo's of the Winchelasea and do hope you enjoy the photo's. Sorry about the delay on getting back to her. Gary
  7. Hi Johann. Looking outstanding as usually. Have a question for you. You showed in post 2079 your soldering station and was wondering where you got the to tall clamp looking items in the white board for soldering. I have been looking for a set of these but as of yet have not found them. Keep up the great work and thank you. Gary
  8. Nice job Mike. Will be a big help to other's when it comes to building her. Have a question about you square's and was wondering where you got them? They seem to be quite thick which to me would make them very stable when used. Thank you and keep up the good work. Gary
  9. Hi Stevinne. It really depends on what scale you working on. Am sure if you give that bit of infomation a few of us could let you know what size you may need. Gary
  10. Looking good Ron. Believe it or not some of us our still learning. It still takes me a couple of tries to get it to the point that I like it. Keep up the good work. Will be watching your build. Gary
  11. Hi Steve. Just wanted to let you know you have built one outstanding model and is gorgeous one. Thank you for sharing it with us. Gary
  12. Well good folks I couldn't find a finish that Iiked so I used the one I put on Alfred. I have been using a mixture of bee wax and thinner, brings out the wood nicely and will add a nice golden color to the planking and not change the color of the wood. Once it's dry I take a rag and wipe it down, and use a bit of steel wool that will bring out a nice sheen to her. Gary
  13. Glenn you are so right. It does take a lot of patience that's for sure. Once you have it finish it's nice to sat back and enjoy your work. Gary
  14. Hi JJ and thank you. Hopfully I have that part figure out before to long. At least now the hard part is over and she is looking a bit more ship shape.
  15. Thanks Chuck. Took me awhile but am happy with it. Hopfully I get it sanded down and put a finish on it once I make up my mind about it. Again thank you. Gary
  16. Mike I would add another item to Greg accessories which will be a good one and that's the Sensitive Drilling Attachment. Great when you drilling a lot of holes using very small drill bit's. They really do make a lot of good accessories thats for sure. Gary
  17. Well good folks after a few health problems with me and the misses the hull is finally fully planked. Now it just needs a good sanding and a nice finish and hope all the work pay's off.
  18. Albert she is looking good , like most of your outstanding build's. Really enjoy seeing the build up of the back bone and frames on ships'. Thanks for sharing your build with us. Gary
  19. Hi Peter. When I installed Alfred's cant frames , along with clamps and glue I also pined them in place. Once they was good and dry the pin's were removed and tree nail's were installed. Helped keep every thing good and tight. Nice build so far. Gary
  20. Thanks Albert that is exactly the one I am hoping to get in the very near future. Thank you Clay and Jaager for the information it should help the NMM find the print. Email on the way to them. Gary
  21. I sent a email to the Royal Museum Greenwich, for a print of the Intrepid, 1770, Intrepid /Magnanime Class for the Frame print, which Anson is part of. It's a side view much like the one you have on the wall. Should come in handy if they can find it. Gary
