  1. Looking good Iseaz. She looks to be well on her way to being a master piece. Gary
  2. Amalio she is outstanding and a work of art. You could display her next to the Mona Lisa and your's would be the work of art that shines. Gary
  3. May you have the same Mark, look forward in hearing and seeing more of your build and just talking to you and all the other good folks here on the site. Happy New year. Gary
  4. Hi Christain. We are doing ok and every body stayed home so the deep freeze isn't affecting us to much. We are all getting together Monday to celebrate Chistmas. Figure the roads will be cleared by then. Hope every one is doing great and Happy New year.
  5. Merry Christmas every one and a Happy New year. Hope that every one get's what that want and lot's of it. Gary
  6. Mark I believed they were called the bolster piece's, at least that is what is listed in Falconer Dictionary. Steel calls them anchor lining, solid pieces of oak, bolted to the ships side. . Pieces of oak timber fayed to the curvature of the bow under the holes down upon the upper cheek, or solidly between the cheeks to prevent the cable from rubbing against the cheeks. Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. Gary
  7. Hi Toni. When you look at the other plan of Pegasus mast partners, the aft end goes all the way across the beam and the forward end goes what looks to me 95 percent across the forward beam. At least that's what I see. Maybe David or Greg will charm in and set me straight . I do have the deck plan of the Fly and was going to add a photo of that deck but the battery is dead so might be able to post one later. From what I can tell is they are all just a little different, which led's me to believe that how it was done probably had some to do with what ship yard it was built in. Gary
  8. Well Greg, you and David have once again done another outstanding job and a very beautiful model and a nice set of book's on top of that. You two should be very proud of her and your accomplishments. What's next for you guys in the future? Gary
  9. Hi Ben. Here is a photo of my Alfred that shows how I did the main partner on her and laid out the forward hatch. Hope that is of some help
  10. Hi Chris. I know you posted that you will be doing her in 1/64 but what about 1/48? Would make a heck of a nice model that's for sure. Gary
  11. Hi Picard. One way to look at it, wood is very forgiving. If you don't get it right the first time try try again. It does give you experience so keep going and before you know it your be able to plank a hull in no time at all. As far as planking a hull am still working at it to get it just right. Gary
  12. Hi Mark. Here is a couple of photo's of the cheeks and they items made for them. Its been awhile since I made them but believe I used a piece of curved wood to get the right curve on them using a heat gun after putting water on them. Hope it help's Gary
  13. Hi Matiz and thank you for the compliment. Gary
  14. Just outstanding matiz. Makes me want to go back and redo my pumps. What a joy to watch your build and Merry Christmas good sir. Gary
  15. Hi No Idea. I believe that the small blocks are to help keep the gammoning cable from sliding down on the bowsprit. Believe that the small blocks are called the gammoning cleat's. Gary
  16. Rest In peace Bob and our prayer's are with you. May your sail's always be full, and we will miss you very much. Gary
  17. Thanks Steve. Hope to get back to work on her in the near future. Thanks again. Gary
  18. Hi Steve. Outstanding job on the carving which help's bring you Victory to life. Thanks again for the info on your base. Help's me a lot. Gary
  19. Hi Kevin. Getting your shop complete does take awhile, believe mine took me a few years longer but I seam to have every thing I need, for my ship yard. Your set up of the foredom look's good and was wondering if you were going to add a small vise on the top of the table. You have one heck of a work shop so can you give us a 360 degree view of you shop? Am always interested in other's work shop's and give me ideal's to add to my own shop. Are you planning adding the drill table. Just wondering and have enjoy your video's very much. Gary
  20. Hi Steve. I knew Victory was floated in a drydock at Chatham because usually 1st and 2nd rates was built in drydocks and was a little to big to be launched like a 3rd rate in a slip. I was just wonder how big was your base. Thank you for the info. Gary
  21. Thanks Jack. These small tool's might take me a bit to get used to due to most of mine being on the large size. I do have a very small plane made by stanley which I use all the time and is kept quite sharp. Help's make quick work of trimming plank's. Gary
  22. Hi Jack. Since you have all of their tools do you also have there Miniature Bench Vise? If so have you built a small wood working bench and mounted it? Just wanted to see how and on what you using your tool's on. Working on making a miniature work surface so it can be clamped to my work bench. Thank you Gary
  23. Well mine is on order and probably have to wait for Christmas before I get to use them O well at least their on the way.
  24. Hi Steve. I have to agree with every one, she is a beautiful model and one to be proud of. Just a question good sir but how long and wide is you dock? Am wanting to build one for my Alfred but has a slip with the wall's like the Bellona has she is being built in. A little on the hard side to find measurement on them and maybe other's will have information on them as well. Gary
