Bill - Unfortunately, when we got there the first group of 6 sheep had already been sheared and the 2nd group put up a gallant retreat and deception - maintaining their wooly coats until after we had departed. So, the main attraction was missed, but we did get to do a bit of sightseeing while on the farm and had an otherwise good time. Yes, much more kind to shear than not to shear!!

Mark - Oh, right - The Admiral...……...forgot about THAT part of the equation!!!! You're right, of course - She writes the POD and sets the course....which, BTW - tomorrow we're visiting a sheep farm south of Greensboro to witness the spring sheep sheering. I fear that may be a sly way to demonstrate to me that I've been "clipped" so to speak....🤢 or am I misinterpreting this whole thing???????
Frolicky One - You're up & early this a.m. - YES!!! The snacks were good and "young fella", well...he'll receive appropriate disciplinary action before the mast. However, today in M'ville it's a SNOW DAY - so, no work on the shop or otherwise - may have to go out for an early dinner!

All's well that ends well...the technique I used to straighten the frame and deck worked well, she is dead flat...maybe too flat, but better that then warped and twisted...
only problem I see is that somewhere along the way I lost frame #10...no idea where, searched high and low and nojoy...might have joined all the single socks in the black hole! Oh well a new one is easily made.
Thanks for the likes and comments

That's what happens when you leave your build log unsupervised for so long.
No need to answer to me about color or finish. It only took me two weeks just to get the paint to STICK on my Huey build! I have no place to even mention anyone else's painting abilities or efforts! In fact you were the one who taught me about using Future to create a gloss finish from whatever surface you were using as a base. It's is an obvious use for Future therefore it was too hard for me to figure out on my own!
The seats look perfect. The color is exactly the same as the brown part of my seats in my Mini Cooper. I think Mini calls it camel. Either way I like the color.
I think in the real engine the head would not be chromed, (Or in those days Nickel plated) but probably painted the same color as the rest of the engine. Same for the oil pan. I don't think pimping out the engine compartment was ever a big aspect of cars back then. Most people who owned cars like this probably never even opened the hood themselves anyway.

The deck fill is completely sanded and the deck smoothed, after all the sanding I'm fairly certain that this is oak...50 year old oak at that, sanding took awhile, with power tools.
I want a lightly weathered look to this ship, like most of my builds, so I mixed a light gray acrylic with isopropyl to make a stain, then just layed it on and wiped off the access, did a couple coats to get a little depth and eliminate most of the beige...I may go back and accent the caulking lines as some have disappeared. May even give it a light sanding to bring back more grain...trying to avoid the painted look.
Well that's all for this a.m. not sure if I'll get to the table this afternoon...the Buccos are on this afternoon from spring training, we'll see if the new staff makes a difference this year.

Speaking of decking it is all but done...
I cut down the kit wood that was intended for the second planking...had to score it all about half through its thickness before it would run through the bandsaw without running out. Then cut it to length, about 60mm, just did a two plank stagger
Once it was all laid down there we some fairly obvious gaps so I filled the entire deck...it will all be sanded down to the wood surface tomorrow or Monday
That's all for today, thanks for the likes and comments

Hey CD how you been...good to see you here again...Hi Denis, When I stocked up for the Hannah I ordered 3 mm ply from Amazon it was wonderful stuff to work with, if memory serves it wasn't that expensive either. I stuck some balsa blocks down it the hold space to hold the masts...may beef them up before closing the hull. Planking the deck now, I'll post pics in my log...probably tomorrow.
I thinking I'm just gonna do a noname generic clipper...this is gonna be a gift for a friend and they won't care if there is any historical background or not

WOW. That was some GPS malfunction - we took quite a detour thru the forests
Getting back on track.
I primed the black plastic body parts with Tamiya Fine grey primer. Then repainted them in a Dark Chocolate. For the side panels (cast in yellow) I over painted them with a Sand color and for the seats and other interior upholstery I painted them Fawn color. Then started to assemble the pieces. Interestingly the transmission, engine oil pan are chrome plated. I would expect the engine head cover to be chrome but this is a new one for me.
Note to Lou: The floor wax has not been applied to the Chocolate Brown fenders yet. That should deepen the color and provide a nice gloss look.

I like the effect of the "Texturing" of the OD finish Mark. I don't know if you intended it to look this way but I think it is much better than a more evenly sprayed finish that it would have been if you had used an airbrush or rattle can. I hope I can obtain something like it when I get to that stage. But at this time I am still stuck in the cabin. My new after market PE parts arrive tomorrow, and hopefully I will start making progress again soon.

It is certainly larger, but to be honest I see little difference in quality over your build and display, certainly not $14K worth. At least when looking from an on line aspect. I think that if you were using a professional studio and lighting like they are then the differences would be even less pronounced.

I have eight builds in the works simultaneously, so here is one of them.
I received the paints I ordered from Micromark.
I cleaned the parts.

lmagna reacted to Ekis in Medieval Fortified Village by Ekis - 1/87 scratch base kit Aedes Ars
Yes, I've been thinking about how to move it and how to display it eventually.
It will be made of 3 modules on bases that can be assembled like a puzzle.
The 1st block is the current Church/cloister.
The 2nd one will be Rural House/Lord's Lodge.
The Third Fortified Gate/ Watchtower.
Each piece will be about 30x50cm with a maximum height of 30cm and can be stored on a shelf without any problem. ☺️

The final plan is evolutionary, I just planned to add houses to make a small street ...
Here's a quick sketch that I use as a basis:

It can CD got a good bit worked the life saver was that area got OD in the long run.I did not care for the Duraluminum so buffed and hit with MM Al Plate smooth finish the Dura came out blotchy. That bottle of filler I P/U in New Orleans last year at the LHS works great for a crack/seam so-so on that fix for the nose. Got the fuselage glued together and taped. I'll let it dry overnight. Somehow, I managed to not only knock off one gun but also the mount. The mount is back in place and I'll hold off doing the gun for now. The mask for the front glass area should be here tomorrow.
