I used to have a desk at my parents basement, than desk at college dorm, than there was lots of desks until I got my own studio apartment.
There a closet was converted into workshop. Upgraded to a house onceI got a family so workshop area is shared with family storage in a small garage.
Have two countertops for working with saws, lathes and sanders, storage for large tools, etc. for working on the house as well as models. In the boiler room next to the garage I have my working station were I spent most of the time working on the model (AKA hiding from the family). Used to be a concrete box which I remodeled in style of Victorian officer cabin. If any one interested I have some step by step pictures of the process.

Just a basement workshop, but I did construct a mini-bench for my models. Modified from some drawings in a woodworking magazine, I have a center "tail vice" that can hold inverted hulls in about any position or used with bench dogs to hold things mounted on flat base, a depression in the top for tools/parts, drawers for frequently used tools and parts, and a mounting hole for the all important light.
But, the best feature is its portability. When not mounted on the main shop bench, it can be mounted with clamps on a pair of sawhorses, or moved to a table elsewhere. I like working standing up, and the height is just right for that, and the mini-bench facilitates resting your arms on it while doing fine work. If I decide to work seated, I move it to the sawhorses. The legs are designed with flanges to allow clamping work to them as well. Finally, when the Admiral demands work on another project, the bench with model can be moved out of harms way.

Thanks for the 'likes' again everyone.
Made a start on the lower masts. They make a great change on the overall look of the ship. Still have to add a few bits and pieces to complete them but I thought it is worth sharing a few photo's.
I thinks I am in luck with how they fit in the holes on the deck. I made the tenons a bit longer and gave them a snug fit. Then I rotated the masts to a position where the tilt angle was just about right. I marked the positions and started building up the mast assemblies.
So when Gluing time comes in the distant future it doesn't look like I will need a big setup for the positioning of the masts (fingers crossed). Here a some photo's.
Cheers, Peter.

Thanks for the previous likes everyone.
I have finished the bowsprit assembly including the rigging so I would like to share that milestone with just a few photo's.
Next I will make a start on the masts.
Cheers, Peter

IMO if you are going to leave wood Natural or Stain, stick with PVA. If you are going to paint or Copper Plate, CA use is Okay. I also use clamps, tape and rubber bands instead of push pins as I don’t like the holes they leave and in many cases are a real PITA to push in.

I use it for decking as I think the color is closer to a real hollystoned deck than Holly.

Is that SIX brushes with hoses and etc? WOW when you by tools you really don't cut any corners! I think I paid about $30 for my Japanese, (Or Chinese) airbrush with compressor!
All I have ever done is put paint in one end thin it down a little, adjust the knob thingy at the other end until I get the spray coming out that I want, point it at the model and watch as it turns color, (Hopefully). Rinse and repeat. That is about the extent of my knowledge. Hopefully someone will wander by and straighten us both out. If you rely on me I will probably just teach you bad habits.

Thanks Eugene. I really appreciate the way your company responds to all inquiries. Other companies should take note on how to provide real customer service.

Very, very reasonable. I have spent more for a lot less quality.

Work continues. I've attached the jibboom and added some paint.

Bowsprit is finished and the cap has been installed. Test fitted the jibboom and flying jibboom.

Work is progressing on the bowsprit. I started with the kit supplied dowel but after sanding and staining it still looked like a dark dowel rod. I noticed that the diameter was smaller than the plan drawing so I bought a new basswood dowel rod and and remade the bowsprit. I'm much happier with the results. The jibboom and flying jibboom went off without a hitch.
I assembled the dolphin striker and lathed the jack staff
My question is: does the bowsprit sit on top of the stem or is it cut into the stem? My angle "looks" too steep to me.

Some small progress. I've all but finished the metal components of the cannon carriages. The brass bolts need to be painted, but otherwise, they're pretty much done. I'm not so sure I'll be rigging them just yet though. I need to order some more blocks from Syren because I am literally one block short of having what I need to rig them. I also need to get around to the task of drilling the holes in the hull to receive the eyebolts for the rigging. Not the most exciting part of the build, but it must be done. Also on the agenda is to order some light grey paint to paint the hawse pipes, which might as well be put in now. That, and I can put in the mast partner too around this point. In any case, there are a number of small projects to attend to, but I'm trying to tackle them mostly one at a time.
The 12 pound cannon
The 9 pound cannon carriages
Eyebolts with rings to be attached to the 9 pound cannon carriages
The 9 pound cannon basically finished (minus trucks)
