When starting at the V class with RGL, I got interested in the RN G & H Class destroyers. Thus, got on the net and found this kit Pictures later, I am presently unable to upload any size photograph Some general info: H-class Type: Destroyer Service Period: 1936-1949 Characteristics: Length: 323 feet (98.45 meters) Beam: 33 feet (10.06 meters) Draught: 12 feet 5 inches (3.79 meters) Displacement: 1,340 tons (Standard): 1,859 tons (Full Load) Crew: 137 (Peacetime); 146 (Wartime) Propulsion: 3 x Johnson boilers, 2 x Parsons geared turbines, 2 x shafts, 34,000 shp (25,000 kW) Range: 5,530 nautical miles (10,242 kilometers) at 15 knots (27.78 km/h) Speed: 36 knots (66.67 km/h) Armament: 4 x QF 4.7"/45-caliber Mk.IX dual purpose naval guns (4x1) 8 x .50-caliber machine guns (2x4) 8 x 21" torpedo tubes (2x4) 20 x depth charges (1 x rail and 2 x throwers) Guns will be replaced, either by brass, or 3D printed, I found the torpedo tubes in 3d very appealing so I'll try those again ... First I've got 172 port holes to drill

Thanks Piet, and thank you all for the likes Before I ruin everything ... with my brush, here is the, still in brass, "railed" ship ship's boats added for some more colour and the port and starboard lights ... won't be long now ...

Sorry Dick, cannot dislike, as I am not educated in this field of expertise, so I'll refrain from your kind request.

It sounds like the Scrum method in software development ... as Mark said, a beautful philosophy, and a perfect way to work on the different parts of the build. Remco has a signature much a like: "Treat each part as if it is a model on its own, you will finish more models in a day than others do in a lifetime."

I mind, Lou "Rig that thing" as I wrote before. I have EZ line too, but that was to coarse to my liking, to overwheling. This has the same properties, but is inifinitely thinner ... got it from a shop in the UK, not flea bay

Maybe start on the Titanic, instead of writing about it ... now you've seen how it works by following RGL's builds. Did you see his logs on the Japanese armada? Nice relaxing passtime after a hard days work ... something to look forward too Nah, you would get bored real soon ... Greg beat me to it, but he has, as I do, a lot of those portlets from Yamato, your paper punch idea is nice, but maybe only for over sized portholes, brass rod would make it very expensive You have set yourself quite some prepping, mate .. drill out portholes, making the deck flush ... I'll stick to rigging for the time being ...

Thanks Denis, praise from the master of creativity! Yes, the subs should go into a diorama, I'm pondering on th water, since I'm not really willing to spend $65 on water, if it flows freely from the tap Funnels turned out good. Did you paint the insides black? It's easier when not yet "capped", but even with that beamed grating, you could still manage, be it somewhat difficult. I can't see anything wrong with your railing on that small rectangle, it's a small model so after the davits and the ship's boats are installed, you will hardly see the structure ... with PE, it's actually the more you do it, the easier it becomes, althoug sometimes you want to chuck it out of the window, especially when you have had a lot of jumping bling ... Lou, I know you wanted to, thanks for letting me concentrate. I just did half of the funnels' rigging in 2.5 hours, 5 more lines to go ... gawd, it looks like I'll be spending the rest of my life on rigging this ship!!!

Depends on the client mate ... I did some "research" (testing my poor abilities) on a set of 2 Japanese subs (1/700), so I can extend my poor prowes on my next build (RN H class destroyer) since I'm waiting on parts from Ukraine. For those interested first image is a macro, the other one the way we would normally see it, if not blinded by whatever state of mind, a thank you to a few forum members for helping me out by giving some constructive feedback

About the NRG
If you enjoy building ship models that are historically accurate as well as beautiful, then The Nautical Research Guild (NRG) is just right for you.
The Guild is a non-profit educational organization whose mission is to “Advance Ship Modeling Through Research”. We provide support to our members in their efforts to raise the quality of their model ships.
The Nautical Research Guild has published our world-renowned quarterly magazine, The Nautical Research Journal, since 1955. The pages of the Journal are full of articles by accomplished ship modelers who show you how they create those exquisite details on their models, and by maritime historians who show you the correct details to build. The Journal is available in both print and digital editions. Go to the NRG web site (www.thenrg.org) to download a complimentary digital copy of the Journal. The NRG also publishes plan sets, books and compilations of back issues of the Journal and the former Ships in Scale and Model Ship Builder magazines.
