  1. Hmmm, what's set off ...? Woke me up again you lot! Nice progress RGL, bit sloppy on the alignment of the squares mate, they're all straight
  2. Antony, that will do fine, especially if you "redesign" to your needs. I found it looks quite good to work with. SInce I recently got a Byrnes table saw, I can start cutting what I need to build one at a somewhat smaller scale, yours is 1:11.5 You really triggered my curiosity now!
  3. Since I want to build this kit as a RN version (HMS vs HMCS from the kit) I've been looking into the different assets of the kit. For one the armament for an H class is wrong they deliver 4.5" single guns, whilst all H class have been equiped with the 4.7" single variant which has a sharp bent in the casing vs a roundish one in the 4.5" Guns to order. I'll be getting the quadruple vickers to and need to get 20mm oerlikon's which were installed from 1940 onwards. The kit supplies two aft structure types, so I need to wait for the books to shed some light on which one to use. In the mean time I'll start prepping the hull for painting ...
  4. Denis, try to add the piece of railing with a piece of copper wire from either an electric appliance, or cat 5 (internet) cable. When I see what you did and still do on ships/boats than you cannot get licked by some PE
  5. Well Mr Bunny, it is time to join the Seydlitz build, Greg is still looking for "joinees" like Ken (Canute). You can work with rigging and PE to your heart's content. He hasn't pulled me across the line yet, but one never knows how persuavive an Aussie is ...
  6. Jack, build the one you feel comfy with. Perhaps one with average PE ... I used a lot of PE from Musashi/Yamato. Ordered some more generic items e.g AA guns, and some specific. That's what I'll be doing for the h class destroyer too. Dunno how you arr on paints but a rattle can of primer will ease your painting. I switched from airbrush to it ... a blessing. The clours ... I switch between Vallejo and Tamiya Don't listen to much to RGL babbling away when he gets personal ... he's still hanging by his toes ... still, you could do worse for an Aussie ...
  7. Thank you Sam, It took me long enough. Thought you were going to chear me on instead you got married with a pretty lass!
  8. thanks for the likes everybody Lou, that cropping is a breeze, to get the right pictures ... thanks Jack, much appreciated

  10. I am curious how you will get those fine details apear on the hull ... merely paint will not get it out as easily ...
  11. Thanks OC. I think I'll stick with the wanting hull, as it will be my first attempt at weathering a larger hull (those two 1/700 subs don't count)
  12. At least you'v got your work cut out for you. That's quite a lot of portholes to replace, and what I see from this end, some smallplates on the hull ...
  13. Interesting OC. I would need the top view, and the line plan to get that right as well. There is one other detail: Is that a G class or an H class ... they do differ despite the fact they share the same basis. Furthermore, I couldn't find data for it, so I don't know if all were built in the same yard ... can't imagine with the pressure of WWII, did the yard stick exactly to the drawing ... (need for speed)
