A bit more progress to day  (boy I love the fit of this kit so far  - it  almost falls together)    next was to paint and fit the two pedals, quite straight forward  they pop in below the bottom frame,   next  I glued the other side to close up the cabin bath tub assembly.

After  putting this aside  - I woked on the two fuselage sides adding a few more fittings that were then painted and weathered, I thne did a dry fit  - all seems well  with the fuselage going together well.

As long as the boxes do not hit the table, there isn't anything to build

Nick, don't mention it. Currently testing Mr Paint both enamels and acrylics. I really like the enamels for airbrushing.

Since I have little time, I left my SMS Seydlitz in her mothballs and picked up this little build.

The only thing I can say: "it is small!!!" and it is almost finished before you start it

Resin and PE ready for painting

Base coat "Black base" with chrome - both AK extreme metal colours - enamels

Base colour is RLM 66 some details filled in with colours, and metal PE which has been prepainted - Vallejo acrylics - added a bit of wear and tear

Getting the PE, resin, and plastic fitted took the better part of an eveing, painting took in all about 1.5 - 2 hours. Quite a fun model to build despite it's size, lot's of detail on the resin parts too

    Cheers

no Carl.....if your like me.......you do anything that hit the table    {I've been showing great restraint with the wagons}.   at the moment,  I'm working on both wood and plastic.

Nope, he thinks everybody is like him

Fnick, I used Vallejo rattlecan lacquers for the destroyers I have built, and for a BF 109G I used AK from a bottle, because I didn't have any satin left in a can. In the end it all boils down to preference.

P.s. I didn't like Valleyo bottled lacquers for use in an airbrush, with a conventional brush it worked as expected

Finally got to work on rigging the Jack to the Jackstaff. Got it on. Not positive on just how this is supposed to be tied off but here's what I got. Haven't settled on which direction I'll have it waving, will get the Ensign on and then figure it out.

Painting is done except for the two deck plates. They are primed but have to be deck blue.

Thanks for posting this. ' Been There, Seen the picture. Didn't get the 'T' shirt'. In 2016 I was asked if I could paint a cover and some illustrations for a book being written about the experiencies of a Ships Engineer Cadet on board a Liberty Ship the book 'Liberty's War'. To cut a long story short. The book was launched at the US Merchant Marine Academy, at Kings point. I had the Privilege and Honour to be invited to the event, and to give a short talk about how a retired ex RN Rating from a small village in Fife Scotland came to be there. The cover painting was acquired by USMMA Museum. What more could I ask, one of my paintings among such eminent company.
some photos of the cover painting, exhibition and launch.

For the aficionados of Type VII-c, here are a few drawings representing the Control Room being worked on at this time:

The Tank view clearly shows how the various fuel tanks are arranged inside the pressure hull. The Control room is basically sitting on top of the fuel tanks and the main ballast of a capacity of 47.75 cubic meters.

On the top view, you can see the well for the attack periscope which is missing in the Trumpeter kit. The blue-print also shows the various curvatures of the control room and the fuel tanks. Trumpeter could have provided some convex bulkheads for that room, but they decide otherwise, to make the final assembly in the hull, easier. Too bad, it would have been an interesting feature.

Another blatant mistake from Trumpeter is the curvature of the Control Room floor. I have already mentioned that limitation and this is how it should have looked like:

Of course, the entire internal arrangement of the hull would have had to be modified, but it would have been so cool to have this feature represented, at least partially (from left to a partial right on the drawing, as to allow the viewers to peruse into the compartment. I thought about doing it, but the modifications are way too extreme and decided against it.
