  1. Hi Mike, no I have not started it yet, not brave enough! I have looked over it a few times and like you seen the “traps” (resin) and the good parts (P.E.). The resin seems awful delicate, as well as not very “clear” and i’m still puzzling how to get some parts out of the blocks still looking identifiable. Some are so small even if you did get them out successfully they would look like “blobs” if more than a few molecules of glue used! I will however try to build it as an experiment, as I fortunately got mine from an eBay charity shop for £20! So not much to lose by using it as a learning experience. Also the WW1 “dazzle” camo! 😳
  2. Wonderful work Mike, you and Alan with your 1/700s are geniuses!
  3. Not many updates recently, but the yards are all pretty similar and not very photogenic with my phone camera, so I have not done multiple updates of similar looking stuff. But good news - the end of the yard(s) construction is here! 😁 Nothing for it now but to get down to starting the rigging over the Christmas holidays. I will be spending a long time studying plans and the AOTS book first! Thanks for looking in and the likes. 👍
  4. Looks wonderful Ian, such an interesting looking model.
  5. Well, if you hadn’t told us Geordie, we wouldn’t have known! 😆 Good save! 😉
  6. A capsized Victory can still style it out! (Looks good so far!) 😉 anyway, welcome to MSW!
  7. Welcome to MSW Phil!
  8. Welcome to MSW!
  9. Excellent finish Andy. I know, as some have said on here, clipped wing Spitfires are not to everyone’s taste, so it is nice to see one done.
  10. Welcome to MSW!
  11. Glad you have the angular turret in the kit. I think the rounded turrets were recovered from old Type 21 Frigates etc. and the angular ones were made new for some of the Type 23s. They were nicknamed the “Kryten” turret, named after the character from Red Dwarf Sci-fi Comedy series.
  12. Unusual to see a Spitfire with such "prominent" nose art! 😆 Good job Andy!
  13. Welcome to MSW! As an experienced Fly tyer your seizing and knots should be good for rigging!
  14. Hi Alan, an interesting subject, I shall be following along. I like the look of the T23’s, very hard working ships, particularly the vital TAPs role they have. Hope your father makes a good recovery and doesn’t cause you any more distractions!
  15. Looking good Geordie. This is a good thread on gun carriage rigging:- https://modelshipworld.com/topic/21776-carriage-gun-rigging/
  16. Agreed, your Sherbourne is looking very Smart Dan! 👍
  17. You are spoiling us Chris, most (if not all other manufacturers) would say "like it or lump it!"
  18. Thanks all for the "likes" and the kind comments. As a small update, I've been working on the yards, all fairly repetitive stuff so just a couple of sample pictures for where I have got to so far. And yes I have left the most complicated ones until the end! 🙄 - Fore and Main lower and topsail yards, hope to have these done in the next week or so. Thanks for looking in.
  19. Great work Tom, very busy looking deck, and that is before the masts and boats!
  20. Great progress Andy, I have also built this kit last year (just did it out of the box and with the box top scheme decals), a nice little kit and as you have been finding with your two builds of it, it goes together really well. 😁
  21. Welcome to MSW.
  22. Interesting you are experimenting on the various blacks to use. I have used "Tenberous Grey" on my HMS Bounty I'm building now; it has a nice warm tone to it that I think suits wood. Also used the "Smoke Black" and "Rubber Black" from AK which can be used for surfaces that receive good illumination to provide some contrast to the more standard dull blacks.
