  1. Thanks once again Brian, Mark, Grant, Allan, Michael, Sjors, Tom and Caroline - much appreciated. Rudder Head Partners To enable the planking surrounding the rudder head to be fixed down there is a Partner either side of it, joined by a short piece aft. This was rebated into each side piece : There will be a half-beam fitted either side from the partners to the quarterdeck clamps. The quarterdeck (and forecastle deck) do not have the complex Carlings and Ledges of the lower decks on this ship. Danny
  2. I made that too easy for you David . Well done, your go. Danny
  3. She starts with "X" - that should narrow it down a bit . Danny
  4. Wrong end of the alphabet David . Danny
  5. :D . I'm using Paint.net with a few Add-on tools. I' still learning how to use them. Danny
  6. Thank you Adrieke . Another - this may be a bit tricky : Danny
  7. Hi Jeff, Silkspan is used by Aircraft modellers and should be available from your local Hobby Shop (if it's a half-decent one). If not, try Frontline Hobbies in Newcastle - they'll mail you a sheet - costs about $7.00 plus freight. That's enough to last you a lifetime . Danny
  8. Well done Adrieke - your go again. Danny
  9. According to Lees they are both of the same vintage. The one with the fall leading to the deck was used on yards that were raised/lowered and the other for those which didn't need lowering to furl the sail. Parrels were replaced by Truss Pendants around 1760. Jan, most Navies copied a good idea from their opponents occasionally . Danny
  10. Are you sure about the date Doug? Supply was refitted in 1786 prior to departure with the First Fleet in 1787. Perhaps a later re-drawing of the original plan? BTW - I wish I'd seen a copy of that plan before I built my Supply. I made a few errors with mine apparently Danny
  11. No point making things TOO easy Jan . The "disguise" is really only a recoloring of the sky - that fools Google Image enough . The ship is actually hauled up on land. Incorrect Henry, guess again . Danny
  12. Great job Jeff . Mike's right, the kit supplied ensign is wrong. Check out mine: If you really want to change it I suggest you use Silkspan for a new one. You can print one on it with your computer printer, and it looks a lot more realistic than any bought version. Danny
  13. Thanks Aldo. Completing Great Cabin To complete the work in the Great Cabin the Lockers received two lids and a couple of fill-in pieces : Next I fitted four planks to the Lower and Upper Inner Counters : A Sill finished off the top of the planking, and Cover Timbers were fitted between the Lights over the framing : Danny
  14. G'day, Here's a pic from James Lees' book "The Masting and Rigging of English Ships of War 1625-1860" which may be of help to you : Danny
  15. That took some doing David - the Postcard of Welland may have been on Ebay, but it's been sold recently and no longer appears . I DID find a couple of the other ships, but they weren't the same postcard. DOH ... just worked out your BIG clue . Here's my next - pretty easy : Danny
  16. Sigh ... well I'll get her in the NEXT FOUR guesses - HMS Welland? Danny
  17. :D I'll go with mt first guess of HMS Teviot. At least I've seen a pic of her, although not the one you posted : Danny
  18. HMS Teviot? Or one of her five sisters - HMS's Ribble, Usk, Welland, Gala or Garry. Danny
