One way to paint the bulwarks is to make apaper mask that follows the contours of the deck.I used this method on my Scientitic Sark and Model Shipways phantom and no paint or overspray was on the deck when the paper mask was removed.Just make it as a precise as you can to ensure a tight fit and do not lay down a wet coat near the deck mask.

I decided to go with an asymmetrical look to my display base that I screwed to the keel.I am telling you what,I should have worked it out beforehand. It is a wonder that I did not damage the masts when I laid it on its side to drill the pilot holes and screw them into the keel!

I guess!I have never encountered doublings on a flag pole but I guess the naval architech must have deemed it necessary

Put on the spanker and the rear flag ploe.Wow it sure is heavy for a flag pole but that is what the plans show.

Progress continues on putting on the ysrds and sails.I drill a tiny hole in thej mast abnd yard or spar to accept a tiny brad.the blocks and lines balance and hold it in the proper position.

Yes wooden ship mpdeling can be addictive and is so much more rewarding than a plastic model because of what the ship demands of you.

I have never put cloth sails on a ship before so I decided to use the sails from AL Hermione.None of the sails would fit the lower boom so I took one of the jibs and furled it on the boom.Seemed to have worked fairly well.

About the NRG
If you enjoy building ship models that are historically accurate as well as beautiful, then The Nautical Research Guild (NRG) is just right for you.
The Guild is a non-profit educational organization whose mission is to “Advance Ship Modeling Through Research”. We provide support to our members in their efforts to raise the quality of their model ships.
The Nautical Research Guild has published our world-renowned quarterly magazine, The Nautical Research Journal, since 1955. The pages of the Journal are full of articles by accomplished ship modelers who show you how they create those exquisite details on their models, and by maritime historians who show you the correct details to build. The Journal is available in both print and digital editions. Go to the NRG web site (www.thenrg.org) to download a complimentary digital copy of the Journal. The NRG also publishes plan sets, books and compilations of back issues of the Journal and the former Ships in Scale and Model Ship Builder magazines.
