A little more progress - The ship`s boat which was built earlier is now in place along with the anchors. The pulley hanging from the cathead was made by using a 7mm triple block with a copper strip bent around it & soldered shut. Then I soldered a hook to the copper strip to hang the anchor on. Also got all the upper yard braces on. Next will be the fore & main yard braces, sheets,& tacks.

Hi Mark, It's very obvious why your RW has taken you much longer than mine to build. The detail and finish is simply superb, a real work of crafted art to be proud of. Each time I see pictures of it I just have to sit back and admire, I'm glad that it will never be shown next to mine.

Ken, your build was a pleasure to watch, and many of your resourceful techniques will serve me well on my own projects. The ship really came out beautifully, and you should be justifiably proud of a job well done. I’m looking forward to whatever your next project may be.

Thanks Michael. I can see that I need to find a darker background - the lighter lines are nearly invisible against the light background.

update - The mizzen yards are now completed. After some discussions with Pete(piratepete007)it was decide to mount the crossjack yard a little different than what the plans showed. It was mounted with a simple sling with no halliards & the lifts were rigged with deadeyes instead of running tackle. That yard was almost never lowered,so that semi-permanent mounting was used. Still need to do the braces yet,as well. Some of the belaying points for the lateen yard were a little vague,so I rigged them where I thought would be best by adding a couple of cleats to the poop deck.

Update - the main mast rigging is now completed except for the braces, which will be completed a little later. Once more,a lot of lines coming down to a relatively small area. Glad to have that done!

Well, silly me for not reading Pete`s notes carefully. Re-did the spritsail yard braces. I did simplify them slightly as I could not get the aft block under the top installed - just not enough room to get my hands in there.

A little more progress - the foremast yards are all fully rigged(except for the braces which will be added later). I added 2 braces to the spritsail yard which were not shown on the plans - I don`t know how else they would keep it from swinging around without them. Also added the sheet lines to the spritsail yard & the tack lines to the fore yard. The foresail sheet lines will be added later also. That`s a lot of ropes coming down to the deck!

marktiedens reacted to Nirvana in Air Brush Paints
I have only used Valejo paint both the regular and the air version.
Both can be thinned a lot without loosing pigmentation.
I learned something new about the Valejo bottles (a reason not to throw them away once depleted) I was to open my red one and the top came off.
Which was perfect as the paint was clogging up in the tip.
Rinsed it under warm water and the top was as new.
This way I can blend my colors to my own liking and store it without drying out.
The thinner from Valejo is not compatible with MS paint and other acrylics. Tried and the outcome was extremely bad.
