Thanks Hamilton, nothing really revolutionary, just some practice and proving to myself it can be done. Its nice working with wood again after all the carronade rigging.
Another small detour on the tops. Kit supplied versions are simple ply and given that these are likely to get quite a bit of attention decided to dress these up a bit using a technique I saw on BEs excellent Pegasus build. 4x0.5mm walnut strips were glued to the ply to simulate planking, to ensure overall dimensions remained the same the edge piece was traced around with a sharp knife to remove any excess and get the correct shape.
Pretty happy with the way it turned out with edge in place and the battens installed. Tried to shape these so that they get thinner toward the center and will probably tidy these up a bit more before installation.

looks like you could fit a wedge behind it........give it the impression that it is {just food for thought}. great start on the rigging....your doing a super job on these two builds. they look great together.

Wow they look so impressive when they are photographed together like that. I love Andy's technical terminology (sticky outy ) makes me feel much more at home since I use lots of terms like thingamabobber etc.

The lion sticky-outty thingy looks fine. What bothers me is that your fleet seems on course for a major disaster sailing right off the end of the table. Thank heavens Columbus disapproved the 'earth is flat' theory.

I still envy you Mark........not having to worry about the 'grind' anymore. with the way my 'work' is set up, I have four days to devote to my builds {when it's possible}. I hope that when your 'smoke' clears.......you'll find more time for your build.
thanks Ron.........yepper.....moving back to the Goth, but too many thing are cropping up with the holidays and home life to put any distance on things. what I've done with the Half Moon put me on a different spin..........making me want to bash the rest, rather than follow the kit build. I think it will be for the better though. the Goth is easy, I'm rigging....and back to it I go. with the way things are going....I think it's going to get a lot busier at the wharf.
thanks as well Kimberly..........welcome to the insanity. yes, the wharf is a very busy place.....but I enjoy it, and have found working with wooden ships, a whole lotta fun. recent happenings here, are pointing the wharf to get a bit busier.......you'll find out about it soon {I hope}
