  1. Yeah, come on Frank. There's new folks on here who never saw your weathered masterpiece Supply. They are not going to believe that you even added banacles! And besides, we're going to need all the guns we can bring to bear once Sjors gets back in gear
  2. Thanks Bob. That's quite a complement coming from a recent convert to the 'dark side'. I wish I had your talents. I truly hope we get enough of the folks back on board to make the new site outshine even the old one. But man, those logs will be hard to replace.
  3. Thanks for stopping by Hamilton. You're not going to be disappointed with Syren. And it certainly looks like you've had more than enough experience at the bench. Funny you should ask about the 'wood'. It's one of the (many) things I could have done better. I used the metal castings and painted using Model Master Enamel, the color designation is 'Wood'. On the old site we had about 30 Syren logs and many took the time to actually carve the stern decorations and quarterbadges. I have no talent for that. Hopefully, someone will repost one of those magnificent logs. I'll be looking forward to your log!
  4. Welcome home Adam! She looks as good as always. Thanks for re-posting.
  5. Glad to see you back Andy. She looks even better this time around!!!!!!
  6. Welcome home, Sarah. Glad you came back and were able to re-construct your log. Looking forward to your next build
  7. OK....that's where we left off. Can't post any more photos until we do some work! Here's hoping everyone is up and current really soon. I MISSED you guys and gals. Stay well mates!
  8. And now (can we have a drum roll)........ the RATLINES on the lower shrouds !!
  9. Here are the completed shrouds. And here are the lower fore and main mast stays. I've got to get better at tying those lanyards!
  10. Thanks Sherry. Sorry you lost your just completed build. She is a beauty. But I'll be here for your next one
  11. Some work on the 'chain gang' making the links for the deadeyes. And here are the deadeyes mounted on the channels As long as we have deadeyes, might as well start with the shrouds. These are Morope
  12. Thought it might be time to place the masts in temporarily and see what she's going to look like. You can see that Syren is almost as tall as she is long!!!!!
  13. Wow! At least this re-set has had one benefit......finding your log. Very nice work. I like your decision to keep her in an all natural finish. I really like that. Early on I decided to follow Chuck's lead and go with the painted version of Syren. But sometimes I think she looks like a '57 Buick . There's much to be said for both techniques. I'll be following!
  14. Thanks to everyone for stopping by. I'm hoping a lot of the old bunch come home. Robert- Great hearing from you. Gives me a chance to check out your Mars
  15. Hi Anja. Really GREAT to see you back here. Oh...Sjors too
  16. How did you catch up so fast? I'm going blind putting my log back in. I had the photos but lost all my jokes. Does that mean I can use them again?????
  17. Thanks Mark and Grant. Sad part is my building skills stink but I had some good jokes
  18. That's about enough for me for today. What's posted so far took 800 hours in the shop ----- and doesn't fill up a page here!! I'll pick up tomorrow with mast construction. Just want to encourage everyone to get back on board if you can. We'll get the site back up to make us all feel proud again (once we survive the shock). Best regards to all.
  19. The basic bowsprit was constructed. Gammoning next And finally some rigging
  20. The ship's boat was built and mounted onboard. Took a lot less time to post here than to build
  21. The 12 lb. stern cannon, ships wheel, tiller and steering tackle were added. As were the pumps. Moving forward, the fife rail, gallows and riding bits, fore bitts and galley stack were added.
