  1. costas next time you take pictures set your camera to 2 MP. the pictures will be about 0.5MB big so well below the 2MB and still with plenty of detail that's how I take all my pics
  2. software companies always launch new products before they are well tested so its always a good idea to wait till the first patch or service pack comes out
  3. thanks Mick me personally I think a sharp bow is easier : a lot less bending and tapering hope you get back to building soon
  4. Augie most likely its IE 11 yup. you should be able to uninstall it : go to control panel/ programs and features and then select installed updates you ll get a big list . look for IE 11 update and then uninstall it . that should get you back to IE10
  5. after adding one more row of planks I decided that it was time to trim down the excess at the bow and stern. this to ensure I follow the same profile as the keel . they will need to be sanded down to about 4 mm in thickness but that will be done when all planks are on you may notice that on the 3rd bulkhead it seems like the planks are not nicely flowing but that is because from there I am widening the plank till its at full width . I will need to do this for the next few planks here a view from the bow
  6. hello Scott I don't do more then one plank on each side , but it depends, the planks at the stern twist a lot so they need clamping between every bulkhead to keep them tight against the previous plank. as I only have 7 (1 broke) I can only do 1 plank hello Augie yes each off the planks I am adding now need to be tapered , the edges angled then soaked for pre bending before it goes on but honestly I am enjoying it, slowly you can see the ship go from a skeleton to a well rounded lady hello Don welcome good to hear there are others building her . will be following your build log too and yes it is a good kit
  7. I assume you are talking about the colourful clothespins I am using. If you want some and you cant find them in Holland, I ll bring you some when I visit my dad
  8. planking continues slowly I am happy so far with how the stern is turning out. so far I am at 6 rows of planks with 9 more to go till I reach the keel
  9. slowly adding more details : railings around staircase, benches , kitchen smokestacks, walkway when all that is done I will varnish the top two decks fitted the brass rings and eyebolts to the first smoke stack and repainted it
  10. thanks Sjors have you added I want some power tools and a few kits (aggie, Syren,..)
  11. my first attempts at tapering by hand (that was on the Virginia) didnt go to well, too much irregularities in the thickness, not too mention sore arms lol i got a better result this way so i ll use that to taper all the masts on the GF one day hopefully i can afford a small wood/metal lathe
  12. well Robbyn mine broke off in the middle and at the end. the problem is that these dowels are only like 4 mm in diameter so without something to hold them at the end as with a lathe as soon as you put some pressure on it to sand you bend them. after the first breakage : the solution is to first lightly sand all over to make sure its all smooth, i wrap the sanding paper all around it and then use my two fingers of my other hand to let the dowel spin on top (the drill is set to about half the maximum speed) stil dont understand how the top of the other broke off , except maybe the quality of the wood
  13. thanks Mick they bend pretty easily actualy. for the middle of the hull i dont even have to soak them . yes flex them a bit and they are ready to go The difficult part is the stern , where the rudder meets the upper rounded part.
  14. bit more progress on the masts etc.. the holes for all the eyebolts are drilled but they have to be installed after the mast is in place
  15. planking is well on its way and I am enjoying it a lot I am tapering the planks at the bow so they all have a smooth flow pre-bending one plank while glueing another
