    Hi Micha, I really don't have an answer with those two models as I've never done one. I hope someone else can provide an answer.

    Micha, you might consider the three ship beginner series from Model Expo. It's designed by one our members here who's well known to modelers and will get through the basics of planking, and rigging in a step by step manner.

    I tend to believe the term "boxwood" is very generic and used for many woods that are not even close to the stuff we want. I remember seeing a wooden box for soda bottles and being told it was boxwood because that's the wood for boxes. It was a plywood box for crying out loud.

    I can't help with the planes but many of us are using lasers (so are the manufacturers). There's so many now on the market in all sizes and power levels compared to a few years ago.

    Very brief update. Thanks for the likes. The kit came in Monday and I've spent the last few days re-reading the instructions with the kit in hand and clearing my work area. I hope to have progress on the actual building later this week.

    My doc and surgeons have said that basically.... keep going and don't stop is the best mental and emotional health thing we can do. The body many times follows along.

    Welcome to MSW, Nic. There's some very nice work there on that model. As to which ship... I take it no plans, notes or anything else related found? This may be hard to sort out. It looks familiar, probably late 1700's and English I'd guess. I hope someone else will recognize it.

    Thanks for the update on Maggie, Keith and on you. I know the feeling of running amok like a headless chicken but in the end, it's worth it. Hang in there, both of you will get through this.

    Unless there'another planking layer about all you can do from my view is fill in the gaps, sand, and paint. If another planking layer is being added, go to the top of the page, click on the "more" button and read and heed the planking tutorials. You'll still need to fill and then sand and smooth out the hull before adding the second layer. It's not a uncommon issue and almost all of us have been there in our early days of modeling.

    EG seems to have the solution and he's right about the worn paths. There probably would be a "path" even from the runway to where the bomber is sitting. I remember hearing tales from my uncle (B-24 pilot) who often described the issues with the airfields in England and the mud or "@##$%^%$$ mud" as he put it. (use your favorite words for the full description).
