  1. That will be a very impressive model. I'm in to follow along.
  2. I wonder if those photos in the ANCRE monographs are "test" builds to verify things? In some monographs, the builds were never shown finished.
  3. They do make a "thin" CA glue and an "ultra-thin". I haven't used them so I don't know how "thin" they are.
  4. Welcome to MSW, Piotr. A bit of advice... start "small" (no masts)and simple) and then work upwards. A good way to start is something like this: https://modelexpo-online.com/Model-Shipways-Shipwright-3-Kit-Combo-Series-with-Tools-and-Paint_p_5290.html.
  5. Go to the upper right side to where your ScreenName is and click the little down arrow. Then click on Account Settings from the dropdown. On that screen go to the right side and you'll see "Edit Profile". Scroll down and you'll see "Location". You can change it there. After changing it, scroll to the bottom of that page and click "Save".
  6. Right as the airport didn't collect "road taxes" etc. I had to buy it at local speed shop and it was cheaper by the barrel as "racing -off road use only" gas. But those days are long past. It was easy back then to go through 5 gallons or more on race night (drag racing) what with burn outs, time trials, etc..
  7. Good question. Last time I checked it was "special order only" but I suspect those days too are long gone.
  8. Nice work. Looks the part of a gasser from the era.
  9. Interesting article on the ship of Theseus. https://www.livescience.com/human-behavior/what-is-the-ship-of-theseus-thought-experiment
  10. Thanks for the comments and likes. Dave, I didn't use gold paint but followed what they did historically or at least reportedly... yellow ocre as it was "cheap". Slowly making more progress but nothing photo worthy. I've hit a small self-inflicted issue with the various stanchions and hammock cranes as the paint (brushed not airbrushed) on the wood filled the holes for mounting <facepalm>. I have the plans out and taking careful measurements and poking around with a pin. Hopefully I can get these nstalled in the right places.
  11. For the French? It's pretty scattered. There might be a book at ANCRE otherwise it's sifting through monographs. Not being a French speaker, I have no idea what's in any archives in France.
  12. Allan and anyone else who's curious.... here's a link to the issues this past weekend for both MSW and the NRG site. All should be good now.
  13. I scanned these in from zu Monfeld. Hope it helps as they do match the ANCRE books. Apologies if the scans aren't "perfect" as I"m having an issue with the scanner and software.
  14. I vaguely recall the the American .50 cal had that ability. Did the Oerlikons have that as a feature also? Or was it a separate model?
  15. Yes, and given his description is why I asked him.
  16. I fully recommend all those solutions. Some days, Murphy just runs amok and not a thing we can do about it.
  17. Welcome to MSW, Jackie. Is this a "old" kit that's been sitting around for a long time? Do open a intro post in the "new member" and let others know you're here. And also give some thought to a build log as it's a great way to get help when needed and meet others.
  18. For some reason, I believed that the shot around the hatchways, etc. did have netting or canvas covers for "heavy weather". I don't know where I picked that up att though as it's lost to me in the mist of time. As for the ones in the shot locker, I was under the impression that they had to be cleaned of rust before they could be used. I guess my info/sources was wrong.
  19. Do to too much RL, it's been slow going. But here's an update. I've finished "stocking the fore deck and the aft deck and added the timberheads and to the aftdeck, the railings also. I'm showing her with stubmasts as there's no place to do full masting and rigging and then have a place to display her. At least this way, I can have a proper display. Still a ways to go yet with the works/carvings around the bow, the stern lights, etc.
